Libby Jade releases "Seatbelt"

originally published: 01/13/2024

At a Sofar show in Chinatown on January 12th, Libby Jade debuted songs from their new EP called "Seatbelt". Libby Kallins of Libby Jade, Shane Curry, and GregPease are all Jersey residents who comprise the band, which is popular in the New Brunswick basement scene, New York City and the Philadelphia area.

Songs on the new EP include "Oyster," "Homebody," "Seatbelt," "Moods," and "Pausing Clocks."

"Seatbelt, the single, is about the importance of moving forward, even when things feel like they’re falling apart around you," explained Libby Kallins. "All you can do is proceed ahead, and soon you’ll be in a better place. Stay strapped into your seatbelt and you’ll be safe."

Born and residing in New Jersey, Libby Jade is a singer/songwriter seeking to capture warm melancholic moments through her music. The guitar-driven indie pop songs focus on nostalgia & the idea of finding peace in the present. As there is constantly a whirlwind of ~life~ going on around us, Jade hopes to give listeners the feeling that wherever they are is exactly where they should be. Her music is inspired by the coziness of her hometown, the love of her friends, and the growth that comes with cycling through her twenties.

In terms of artist inspiration, Jade is heavily inspired by Spill Tab, Faye Webster, Deb Never, Whitney, Phoebe Bridgers, and more.
