Harmonium Choral presents Second Annual Beer Choir at Glenbrook Brewery

originally published: 09/03/2024

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Come sing with Harmonium Choral Society and our choral community on October 8, 2024 at Glenbrook Brewery (95 Morris Street) in Morristown. This is a national singing movement founded by composer Michael Engelhardt in Minnesota in 2015.  If you like beer, and you like to sing, you’ll love Beer Choir. The event begins at 7:00pm.

This isn’t like your traditional choir - if you show up, you ARE the choir! No singing experience required; just come and sing, drink, and laugh together! There will be non-alcoholic beverages available, and your ticket includes entry and one beer/drink. Homemade food for purchase by Morristown’s favorite, Verrilli’s - brats, Bavarian pretzels, potato pancakes and their famous Spudnuts (potato donuts with yummy toppings).

The singing will be led by Artistic Director Dr. Anne Matlack and other Harmonium talented friends, who will encourage all to sing and will be supported by a kindly pianist. Get ready to join in on traditional drinking songs from Europe and America, some popular tunes and hymns, and a handful of adventurous choral songs from the official Beer Choir Hymnal.  There will be games, a craft beer pull and much more to entertain and delight you.

Ticket price: $35 in advance, $40 on the day of the event. Tickets are available for purchase online. Funds raised at this event benefit Harmonium Choral Society; a nonprofit organization that works to keep the choral arts alive.

Harmonium Choral Society, based in Morris County, is one of New Jersey's leading choral arts organizations. The 100-voice choral society, directed by Dr. Anne Matlack of Madison, has been recognized for its eclectic programming, choral excellence, and community spirit, and sponsors commissions and musicianship workshops. Harmonium's composers-in-residence is Mark Miller; the chorus has also commissioned and premiered works by Amanda Harberg, Matthew Harris, Elliot Z. Levine, Dale Trumbore, and many more. Harmonium also sponsors an annual High School Student Choral Composition Contest, which celebrated its 27th anniversary in 2024.  This innovative program won the prestigious Chorus America Education and Outreach Award.
