BlowUpRadio.com's New & Notable NJ Music 5/22/23

By Lazlo

originally published: 05/22/2023

Lazlo, founder of BlowUpRadio.com (an online radio station based around New Jersey artists), shines a light on some of the many new releases from NJ based musicians each week with this column. This week Lazlo takes a look at releases by Indeyevid, Allison Strong, and The Cucumbers.

Indeyevid - "Biting The Fork". 5 songs in 7 minutes and 37 seconds, hell yes... I'm sorry, let me try that again... HELL YES! Indeyevid is a high energy female fronted alternative punk rock band! Their debut EP, "Biting The Fork" comes at you with blistering speed & vocals, but manages to be aggressive without sacrificing melody. I love this debut!

Allison Strong - "Trial And Error". You may know Allison Strong from being an actress on stage (Broadway productions of Mama Mia, Bye Bye Birdie), or on screen (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, The Week Of), but get ready to know her as an amazing singer songwriter out of Union City, NJ.

The first single from her forthcoming EP, "Brontë", is "Trial And Error", an ethereal, sweeping, cinematic song is absolutely beautiful.

The Cucumbers - "Gotta Start Somewhere". The Cucumbers have been part of the Hoboken, New Jersey scene since the 80's. "Gotta Start Somewhere" is the first single from their forthcoming EP, "Old Shoes" (out on July 21st). The song, and EP, showcases an acoustic band sound, which works so well for their jangle pop sound.
