Novins Planetarium at OCC Announces Lineup of Shows for October

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Robert J. Novins Planetarium at Ocean County College is open for in-person shows, and has released the schedule of presentations for October. Explore the universe as never before with laser shows, sky shows, and Full Dome Movies. Presentations in the 103-seat dome theater are a gateway to learn about the earth, the solar system, and beyond. In addition to public shows, the planetarium offers programs for school and camp groups, birthday parties, and special themed events like shows revolving around the music of The Beatles, Queen, Metallica, and Pink Floyd.

This month, be sure to check out the feature “Beyond The Sun.” While Celeste is fighting off sleep in her room by reading a book on astronomy, she receives an unexpected visit from Moon. Together, they enjoy a journey through the Universe to discover what exoplanets are and how they can be detected. The twosome observes rogue planets, oceanic worlds, and super-Earths. Moon tells Celeste about exoplanet hunters, who observe the sky in search of planets like Earth. Many adventures are yet to come. But first Celeste needs some rest, and she drops off to sleep waiting for the next visit from Moon. “Beyond The Sun” is scheduled for 11:15am on Saturday, October 9; Saturday, October 23; and Saturday, October 30.

And, just in time for the spooky season, the planetarium presents the “Not-So-Scary Halloween Laser Show” and “Laser Fright Light”!

Visit tickets.ocean.edu for more information or to purchase tickets.

Current Safety Policies: All individuals ages 2 and up, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear a mask while inside the venue for the duration of the visit. Seating will be socially distanced with some space between parties. They ask that you maintain six feet of distance between your group and others while in the lobby area.
