(TEANECK, NJ) -- The Teaneck International Film Festival (TIFF) is proud to announce the inauguration of the Sandi Klein Creative Woman in Film Award, an annual honor recognizing an exceptional woman whose work in film demonstrates originality, artistic excellence, powerful storytelling, courage, leadership, and a commitment to meaningful social impact.

The impetus for this special Award came from Sandi's devoted sons, Seth and Matthew Klein. "We wanted to find a way to recognize our mother's devotion to this important festival and to honor her lifelong commitment to spotlighting the work of so many creative women," said Seth. "We decided that this Award in her name would achieve both of those ends," added Matthew.  "It would also be a perfect way to keep her memory alive."

For nearly two decades, Sandi Klein brought her lively presence as well as her singular voice to TIFF's festivals—moderating discussions, interviewing filmmakers, and helping audiences engage more deeply with the issues explored on screen. Long a respected journalist and popular anchor at 1010 WINS news radio as well as a true podcasting pioneer with her acclaimed program, Conversations with Creative Women, Sandi was committed to highlighting the accomplishments and perspectives of women across an extraordinary range of fields.

The Award celebrates the qualities that defined Sandi's life and career: intellectual curiosity, creativity, integrity, a legendary sense of humor, and a belief in the power of storytelling to foster understanding and inspire engagement. It also reflects the festival's longstanding mission of "Activism: Making Change."

Women filmmakers who have demonstrated achievement in any creative role and who have a film in the year's festival are eligible to receive the Award, which includes a $1,000 grant. Particular consideration will be given to artists whose work elevates the lives and voices of women or other underrepresented people, communities, or perspectives.
