(SEWELL, NJ) -- Music at Bunker Hill welcomes the DePue Brothers Band on Sunday, July 19, 2026 at 3:00pm. In a departure from the series' customary chamber music fare, the DePue Brothers Band has long coined their music with the term "grassical," the combination of bluegrass with jazz, blues, rock, folk, and classical.
Originally from Bowling Green Ohio, the DePue family has been a performing phenomenon for over 40 years. In 1989 by presidential decree they were dubbed Musical Family of America, in 1993 were the subject of a nationally televised PBS documentary “Music for All Occasions”, and in 2005 were featured on the commercially released documentary Music From the Inside Out. The band has performed in over 30 states throughout the US. Their classical experience has included leading concertmaster roles with Indianapolis Symphony, Philly Pops, Stars Wars Touring Orchestra, as well as memberships with The Philadelphia Orchestra.
Their CD releases have included the following titles: “Classical Grass”, “Weapons of Grass Construction”, as well as a holiday CD release “When It’s Christmas Time”. Today’s version of the band features Jason DePue, Nigel Armstrong, and new Curtis graduate, Maya Anjali Buchanan along with David Cullen, guitar, vocals; Don Shean, banjo; Kevin MacConnell, bass; and Don Liuzzi, drums, vibraphone and vocals.
Concerts are held at Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church, 330 Greentree Road, Sewell, NJ. Phone (856) 494-6077. Tickets are $30 for adults and seniors, $5 for students with ID. Advance online ticket purchase is advised. Hybrid format offers live and remote viewing. More information is available at www.musicatbunkerhill.org.
