(CHATHAM, NJ) -- Chatham Players presents Stage Kiss by Sarah Ruhl across 3 weekends from October 10-25, 2025. Directed by Gabrielle Wagner Mann, the play is about art imitating life and life imitating art.
When two actors with a passionate history are thrown together as romantic leads in a forgotten 1930s melodrama, they quickly lose touch with reality as the lines between offstage and onstage begin to blur.
Stage Kiss is meta-theatre at its best, following the casting, rehearsal and production of a play within a play (well actually, two plays within a play) - bringing to life all of the hilarity and drama and playfulness and joy and insecurity and frustration and confusion that seems to be inherent in a theatrical production. It's a charming, funny and poignant tale about what happens when lovers share a stage kiss—or when actors share a real one.
The cast includes Cara Heary (She), Carl Dimaggio (He), Andrew Marr (Director), Nick Matthews (Kevin), Brett LaRose (Husband/Harrison), Erin Feith (Angela/Maid/Millie), and Meghan Coates (Millicent/Laurie).
Performances take place Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm with a Sunday Matinee on October 19th at 3:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase online. The Chatham Playhouse is located at 23 North Passaic Avenue in Chatham, New Jersey.
