LoMotion Live presents "The Diary of Anne Frank"

originally published: 07/01/2025

(BOONTON, NJ) -- LoMotion Live is proud to present The Diary of Anne Frank, a play by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett, newly adapted by Wendy Kesselman, based on the book Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl. The production runs from July 18-26, 2025 at The Parsippany Arts Center in Boonton.

Set in a secret annex in Amsterdam during World War II, the play follows Anne Frank, her family, and four others as they go into hiding from the Nazis. Through Anne’s diary entries, audiences witness the daily tensions of life in hiding, the loss of freedom, the persistence of hope, and the triumph of the human spirit.

The cast includes Ben Weisman as Otto Frank, Elissa Strell as Edith Frank, Rachel Perl as Anne Frank, Kara Freedman as Margot Frank, Michael Herbert as Mr Van Daan, Miriam Salerno as Mrs. Van Daan, Noah Shidlovsky as Peter Van Daan, Joe DeSpirito as Mr. Dussel, Missy Renwick as Miep Gies and Mikey Miller as Mr. Kraler.

This powerful stage adaptation breathes new life into Anne Frank’s world-famous diary. Wendy Kesselman’s revision restores portions of Anne’s original writings previously omitted from the earlier dramatization, offering a more nuanced and complete portrait of a vibrant, insightful, and complex young girl coming of age during one of history’s darkest times.

“Anne Frank’s voice still speaks to us with heartbreaking clarity,” says director Lauren Moran “This adaptation makes her story feel even more immediate and human.”
