Remember Jones stars in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" at Bell Theater at Bell Works  (HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the groundbreaking, four-time Tony Award-winning musical, comes to Bell Theater at Bell Works in Holmdel, NJ from June 13-29, 2025. Hedwig stars and is co-directed by Jersey Shore soul sensation Remember Jones. Count: Stories from America’s Death Row  (PRINCETON, NJ) -- During a single day on death row, six men unpack their personal inheritances of violence, racism, mental illness, poverty, and surprising love. Count: Stories from America's Death Row is a production brought to you through a partnership between the Center for Barth Studies at Princeton Theological Seminary and Chesney Snow of Princeton University. Performances are scheduled for Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 3:00pm & 7:00pm in McCarter Theatre's Berlind Rehearsal Room.

Premiere Stages Announces Four Finalists for 2025 Premiere Play Festival  (UNION, NJ) -- Premiere Stages, the professional theatre company in residence at Kean University, has selected its four finalists for the 2025 Premiere Play Festival. Now in its 20th year, the Festival is an annual competition for unproduced scripts that offers developmental opportunities to playwrights with strong affiliations to New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Delaware. This year's finalists were selected from 805 submissions.

Vivid Stage presents Final Episode of Gemstones June 21-22  (SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage, in residence at Oakes Center at 120 Morris Avenue in Summit, is celebrating its 30th Anniversary season, marking decades of bringing contemporary theatre to audiences in the state of New Jersey. Coming up is the final episode of the original series, Gemstones, by Phoebe Farber. This episode, which will recap the entire season and wrap up the family's story, runs Saturday, June 21 at 8:00pm and Sunday, June 22, 2025 at 2:00pm.

Arden Theatre Company to Close Out 2024-25 Season with "RENT"  (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Arden Theatre Company is thrilled to close out its 2024-25 season with the electrifying Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical RENT. Following its Broadway debut in 1996, where it earned four Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, and Best Featured Actor in a Musical, RENT redefined musical theatre by taking audiences on an unforgettable journey of love, loss, hope, and resilience.

Paper Mill Playhouse presents Disney's "The Little Mermaid"  (MILLBURN, NJ) -- Paper Mill Playhouse presents Disney's The Little Mermaid, from May 29 through June 29, 2025. The beloved musical is the final production of Paper Mill's 2024-2025 season. With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman & Glenn Slater, and a book by Doug Wright, The Little Mermaid is based on the Hans Christian Andersen story and the Disney film produced by Howard Ashman & John Musker and written & directed by John Musker & Ron Clements.

Pig Iron Theatre Company presents World Premiere of "Franklin's Keys" - Sci-Fi Adventure weaving Philly history, science, discovery, and magic  (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- The internationally acclaimed, award-winning Philadelphia- based physical theater company Pig Iron Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Franklin's Key, written by Dan Rothenberg and Robert Quillen Camp. This thrilling, magical, sci-fi theatrical adventure explores Benjamin Franklin's hidden discoveries in a parallel universe and runs from June 3-29, 2025 at Plays & Players Theatre.

Cape May Stage presents "Vanities"  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Cape May Stage presents Vanities by Jack Heifner from June 4-29, 2025. This bittersweet comedy is an astute, snapshot-sharp chronicle of the lives of three Texas girls. The production is directed by Roy Steinberg.

Luna Stage presents a new solo adaptation of "The Ground on Which We Stand (abridged)"  (WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- Luna Stage presents a new solo adaptation of The Ground on Which We Stand (abridged) from June 5-21, 2025. The play was inspired by the history and legacy of The James Howe House, the first home owned by a formerly enslaved person in Montclair. The project was conceived and is directed by Ari Laura Keith.

Luna Stage presents "The Ground On Which We Stand (Abridged)"  (WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- Luna Stage is thrilled to announce The Ground On Which We Stand (Abridged) — a solo performance inspired by the history and legacy of The James Howe House written by Turron Kofi Alleyne, Jenny Lyn Bader, Sakinah Hofler, Stephen Kaplan, Kyle Mazer, Kathleen McGhee-Anderson, Diane Polledri, Martine Sainvil, TyLie Shider, Mo Schlick, Melissa Toomey, and Richard Wesley, abriged by TyLie Shider — will run June 5-22, 2025 on the MainStage.

The Ritz Theatre Company presents "Angels In America, Part 2: Perestroika"  (HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- The Ritz Theatre Company presents Angels In America, Part 2: Perestroika as a Black Box Production weekends from June 6-22, 2025. The play by Tony Kushner won the 1994 Tony Award for Best Play. In the second part of Kushner's epic, the plague of AIDS worsens, relationships fall apart as new relationships form, and unexpected friendships take flight.

Philadelphia Theatre Company presents "Small Ball"  (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Philadelphia Theatre Company closes out their season with Small Ball from June 6-29, 2025 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre. Commissioned and co-produced by Daryl Morey, President of Basketball Operations for the Philadelphia 76ers, Small Ball is an off-beat and surreal musical about a professional basketball team, a mysterious new recruit, a tiny island nation, and the big questions that bounce between them.

Studio Players presents "The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon"  (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Studio Players presents The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon by Don Zolidis across three weekends from June 6-21, 2025. Over two hundred Fairytales in two hours... what could go wrong?

The Ritz Theatre Company presents Tony Kushner's "Angels in America, Part 2: Perestroika"  (HADDON TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- The Ritz Theatre Company proudly continues its commitment to bold, transformative storytelling with Tony Kushner's Angels in America, Part 2: Perestroika, running from June 6-22, 2025. Directed by Matthew Weil, this landmark production delivers the riveting conclusion to Kushner's Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning epic.

Two River Theater presents "The Price" by Arthur Miller  (RED BANK, NJ) -- Two River Theater has announced the cast and creative team for The Price by Arthur Miller (Death of A Salesman, The Crucible), directed by Brandon J. Dirden (August Wilson's Radio Golf, Wine in the Wilderness). This American Classic will run in the Joan and Robert Rechnitz Theater, June 7-29, 2025.

Vanguard Theater presents "Hair"  (MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Vanguard Theater presents Hair, The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical from June 12-29, 2025. A celebration of the 1960s counterculture, Hair bursts onto the stage in all its barefoot, beaded, and bell-bottomed glory.

Classic American Tales presents "Tales at the Dormer House"  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- From June 12 through October 16, 2025, Classic American Tales (CAT) once more presents "Tales at the Dormer House" in which guests are treated to lemonade and tasty treats while listening to stories by American authors. The schedule is 4:00pm every Thursday at the historic Dormer House Bed and Breakfast (800 Columbia Avenue) in Cape May. Performances are on the front porch, weather permitting. Otherwise, they will be inside. Cost is only $12.00, cash at the door, and guests at The Dormer House and children ages 12 and under are free.

Pioneer Productions Company presents Jonathan Larson's enduring masterpiece "RENT"  (MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Pioneer Productions is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of RENT, the iconic Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical with music, lyrics, and book by Jonathan Larson. The performances will run from June 13-22, 2025, at The Stage at Fellowship Hall, located in the Morristown United Methodist Church.

Nutley Little Theatre presents "For Peter Pan On Her 70th Birthday"  (NUTLEY, NJ) -- Nutley Little Theatre presents "For Peter Pan On Her 70th Birthday" by Sarah Ruhl weekends from June 13-28, 2025. When Ann thinks of her father, she immediately remembers playing Peter Pan in her hometown theater in Iowa, particularly when he used to bring her flowers after her performance.

Prospect Musicals presents "The Oscar Micheaux Project"  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Prospect Musicals presents eight developmental performances of The Oscar Micheaux Project, a new jazz musical between June 13–21, 2025 as the part of the company’s residency at Baruch Performing Arts Center (55 Lexington Avenue).

Obvious Agency presents World Premiere of "Space Opera" - an interactive theatrical experience blending immersive role-playing, live performance, and collaborative storytelling  (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Philadelphia-based and worker-owned Obvious Agency premieres its newest production, Space Opera, a "playable theater" and sci-fi/fantasy game for building empowered community. The groundbreaking interactive theatrical experience blending immersive role-playing, live performance, and collaborative storytelling debuts to audiences and participants Saturday, June 14 and continues on Saturday, June 21 and Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Arch Street Meeting House (320 Arch St, Philadelphia).

Sussex County Resident's Original Play Selected to Be Performed at New York Theater Festival's "SummerFest 2025"  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Sparta resident Allison Ognibene, and lead faculty of Theater at Sussex County Community College (SCCC) has written an original play called "Mile 59" that will be featured in the renowned New York Theater Festival, "NY Summerfest" in June 2025 at the Hudson Guild Theater.

Middlesex County Plays-in-the-Park Unveils Lineup for 2025 Summer Season  (EDISON, NJ) -- Middlesex County's Plays-in-the-Park returns this summer to the Stephen J. Capestro Theatre located at Roosevelt Park, presenting three popular Broadway musicals: Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Rent, and Grease.

East Lynne Theater Company presents Ken Ludwig's "Dear Jack, Dear Louise"  (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- The award-winning, Equity professional East Lynne Theater Company (ELTC) – now in its 45th year–will present its first show of the company's Mainstage Season, Ken Ludwig's "Dear Jack, Dear Louise," from June 19 to July 12, 2025 with a special performance to honor Veterans on June 27. The heartwarming love story features Liz Mattera, an East Lynne veteran, as Louise, and New York-based actor Xander Furman as Jack, with Mark Edward Lang (ELTC's "Possessing Harriet") directing and lush period costumes by NYC designer Travis Chinick.

Celebrate Courage and Authenticity with "She's NorMale – A Transgender Odyssey"  (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Geenetica (Geena Buono) brings her heartfelt vision to the stage with She's NorMale – A Transgender Odyssey, a groundbreaking live multimedia musical production premiering Thursday, June 19, 2025 at House of Independents. Showtime is 7:00pm. As part of The North 2 Shore Festival in Asbury Park, NJ, this will be the second year the show kicks off the festival line-up.

North Star Theater Company presents "Ride the Cyclone"  (STOCKHOLM, NJ) -- North Star Theater Company presents Ride the Cyclone, the darkly comedic and heartfelt cult musical that asks: What would you do if you had one more chance at life? The show runs for two weekends only, from June 20-June 29, 2025 at Madonna Hall in Stockholm.

Stargazer Performing Arts presents Inaugural Jersey Shore Young Playwrights Festival  (HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Stargazer Performing Arts will present the inaugural Jersey Shore Young Playwrights Festival on Friday, June 20, 2025 at the Duncan Smith Theater in Holmdel. This is a brand-new celebration of emerging talent from teen writers across Monmouth, Ocean, Atlantic, and Cape May counties. The festival will showcase original plays written by students ages 13 to 18, brought to life in a staged reading by local actors and directed by Stargazer's co-director, Jim DeVivo.

Shakespeare '70 presents Oscar Wilde's classic high society spoof "The Importance of Being Earnest"  (WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Oscar Wilde's farcical tale depicting the tangled affairs of two men-about-town leading double lives comes to the stage of Mercer County Community College's Kelsey Theatre when Shakespeare '70 presents The Importance of Being Earnest, June 20-29, 2025.

Music Mountain Theatre presents the monster-hit musical "Young Frankenstein"  (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- From the creators of Broadway's record-breaking musical comedy sensation The Producers comes Young Frankenstein, the monster-hit musical based on the classic film comedy by Mel Brooks. Music Mountain Theatre presents the musical in a limited engagement of 11 weekend performances from June 20 through July 6, 2025.

New Jersey Performing Arts High School Makes History  (TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- The Ocean County Vocational Technical School's (OCVTS) Grunin Performing Arts Academy (GPAA) is thrilled to announce that its fall drama production, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, has been selected to perform at the International Thespian Festival, the world's largest celebration of high school theatre. This prestigious event will take place at Indiana University Bloomington from June 22-27, 2025.

"Heathers, the Musical" returns to NYC this summer  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Producers Bill Kenwright LTD., Paul Taylor-Mills and Jerry Goehring are pleased to announce that after smash hit runs in London and on tour throughout the UK, a new production of Heathers the Musical will make its eagerly awaited return to New York City in June.

LoMotion Live Presents a Developmental Reading of "The Librarian Life of Margaret Hill"  (BOONTON, NJ) -- LoMotion Live is pleased to announce a developmental reading of a new work-in-progress audio drama, The Librarian Life of Margaret Hill: An Audio Drama in Six Episodes, written and directed by Michelle Tattenbaum. The reading will take place on Monday, June 23, 2025 at 1130 Knoll Road, Boonton, NJ. The event begins at 6:00pm.

The Players Guild of Leonia presents 2025 Marshall Playwrights Showcase  (LEONIA, NJ) -- The Players Guild of Leonia will present its annual Marshall Playwrights Showcase on June 27-29, 2025 at the Civil War Drill Hall in Leonia. Works are by J.C. Svec, Guy Newsham, Donald Loftus, Jay Stephenson, and Stephanie Buckley.

The Theater Project Jr. presents Broadway Jukebox  (CRANFORD, NJ) -- The Theater Project will give its regards to the Great White Way when it presents Broadway Jukebox at the Jardine Academy June 28-29, 2025. This year's show will star eight alumni of Theater Project Jr, a summer program for teenagers. In Broadway Jukebox, they reunite as young adults to create a cabaret of songs for family, friends, and The Theater Project community.

Dragonfly Multicultural Arts Center presents Thornton Wilder's "Our Town" in Metuchen and Plainfield  (METUCHEN, NJ) -- Not long after a revival of Thornton Wilder's play Our Town closed on Broadway, New Jersey audiences will have the chance to see the classic drama close to home. Dragonfly Multicultural Arts Center will present the classic play in both Metuchen and Plainfield in July. Directed by Dragonfly's Artistic Director Catherine LaMoreaux, Our Town invites audiences into the heart of small-town America through the everyday lives of the residents of Grover's Corners, New Hampshire.

Centenary Stage presents Jimmy Buffet's Escape to Margaritaville  (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company presents Jimmy Buffett's Escape to Margaritaville from Thursday, July 10 through Sunday, July 20 in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center. Featuring a book by Greg Garcia and Mike O'Malley and music and lyrics by Jimmy Buffett, this play combines tropical vibes and feel-good humor with a collection of the singer-songwriter’s most beloved hits.

NJ Playwright Duo to Receive NYC Premiere of New Historical Satire, "Sacco & Vanzetti are Dead"  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Wayne natives Joey DeFilippis and Matthew Ferrara take to the page and stage with their latest endeavor: a satirical retelling of the historic trial of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, two Italian immigrants caught in the web of prejudice and political persecution during America's first "Red Scare". Sacco & Vanzetti are Dead will receive its New York City premiere this July at The American Theatre of Actors. DeFilippis and Ferrara conceived and wrote the play, and will also star as the titular characters.

Two River Theater Announces "Be More Chill" 10th Anniversary Concerts  (RED BANK, NJ) -- Two River Theater is proud to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the World Premiere of Be More Chill, the hit Broadway musical, with two nights of concerts on July 24-25, 2025 at 8:00pm. With music and lyrics by Joe Iconis, book by Joe Tracz, and based on the novel by Ned Vizzini, Be More Chill was originally commissioned and produced by Two River, directed by Stephen Brackett and choreographed by Chase Brock, on their Red Bank stage in 2015, and ran on Broadway in 2019.

The Theater Project presents "And in This Corner... Cassius Clay"  (SUMMIT, NJ) -- In response to the body blows pummeling arts organizations nationwide, The Theater Project will deliver a one-two punch with the premier New Jersey production of And in This Corner... Cassius Clay, the centerpiece of its thirty-first summer season. Idris Goodwin's 2016 award-winning drama will run August 14–24, 2025 at the Oakes Center.

Leslie Odom, Jr. to Return as Aaron Burr in "Hamilton"  (NEW YORK, NY) -- Tony and Grammy Award-winning, three-time Emmy and two-time Academy Award-nominated performer Leslie Odom, Jr. will make a highly anticipated return to Broadway this fall in his critically acclaimed, Tony Award-winning role as Aaron Burr in Hamilton. The original star is set to reprise his wildly successful and iconic portrayal of Aaron Burr, which comes nine years after he took his final bow in July 2016.

Speranza Theatre Company presents "Princess Pals"

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Speranza Theatre Company, joined by students from Speranza Studio's Summer Acting Intensive, presents its summer stage production, Princess Pals, from July 11-19, 2025 outdoors at the Museum of Jersey City History at The Apple Tree House. Written and directed by Nick Radu-Blackburn. Happily Ever was just the beginning... turns out "after" isn’t all it's cracked up to be. Bored after their fairy tale endings, princess-frenemies embark on a mischievous adventure. Can they put their differences aside to save their kingdoms, all while dealing with an unexpected twist?

"RIFT" Returns To Luna For Two Nights Only Before International Debut At Edinburgh's Traverse Theatre

(WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- Luna Stage's commissioned World Premiere play RIFT is headed to the Edinburgh Fringe for a four-week run at Traverse Theatre this August. On July 18-19, 2025 at 8:00pm each night, the powerful and timely new play returns to Luna for two benefit performances to support the company's travel to Scotland.

PHOTOS from "Jesus Christ Superstar" at Pleasant Valley Productions

(WEST ORANGE, NJ) -- Pleasant Valley Productions (PVP) is presenting Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's iconic rock opera, Jesus Christ Superstar at the Oscar Schindler Performing Arts Center (OSPAC). The production runs July 11-12 and July 17-19, 2025. This groundbreaking musical, which revolutionized the world of theatre, tells the story of the final week of Jesus' life through the eyes of Judas Iscariot.
