The Players Guild of Leonia presents 2025 Marshall Playwrights Showcase

(LEONIA, NJ) -- The Players Guild of Leonia will present its annual Marshall Playwrights Showcase on June 27-29, 2025 at the Civil War Drill Hall in Leonia.  Works are by J.C. Svec, Guy Newsham, Donald Loftus, Jay Stephenson, and Stephanie Buckley.

This year they have 5 plays that were selected by their Play Selection Committee out of over 75 submitted. A Comedy, a Drama, and a couple that'll just be fun and make you feel good.

The 48 by J.C. Svec, directed by Jonathan Bethea. Out of a missed connection with metro, two men have a potential connection for good. Featuring James Gelsey (Terrance) and Mariano Padilla (Jimmy J).

Last Rites by Guy Newsham, directed by Linda Wielkotz. A priest, a death row prisoner, 2 paths that cross.  Featuring Greg Northam (priest) and Jonathan Reiss (prisoner).

The Pickup by Donald Loftus, directed by Marisa Dolkart.  Two strangers meet in a quiet diner. Kismet, or is there more here than meets the eye? Featuring Marisa Gore (Ruth), Chris Caira (Henry), and Melinda Daley (waitress).

The Innkeeper's Wife by Jay Stephenson, directed by Matthew Blum.  Not so classic 1760's Scottish love triangle that gets turned on its head as Jamie and Timothy fight to not woo Nina. Does she even care? Featuring Jan Eggers (Timothy), Gilda Bettini (Nina), and Rob Laub (Jamie).

Der Fröhliche Wanderer by Stephanie Buckley, directed by Lois Corwin.  Two automatons defy their clockworks to find romance and freedom from their mechanical routine.  Featuring Ryan Domalewski (boy) and Marisa Gore (girl).

The 2025 Marshall Playwrights Showcase takes place June 27-28 at 8:00pm; and June 29 at 2:00pm. The Players Guild of Leonia is located at 130 Grand Avenue in Leonia, New Jersey.

Founded in 1919, the Players Guild of Leonia is a non-profit, resident acting company at the Civil War Drill Hall Theater (built in 1859).  They are New Jersey's oldest continuing community theater group (since 1919), and are located just five minutes from the George Washington Bridge and a short bus ride from Manhattan.  Their historic Civil War Drill Hall Theater is located at 130 Grand Avenue in Leonia, surrounded by the towns of Englewood, Fort Lee, Palisades Park and Teaneck, New Jersey.

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Return to the era when families gathered around the wireless set for "theater of the imagination." The Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library will host a live presentation by WREP: When Radio Entertained People on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. A trivia game will take place before the show at 6:30pm. The performance will begin at 7:00pm. Join them for an evening "broadcast" of skits from the Golden Age of radio, performed live by WREP's veteran actors.

(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company brings its acclaimed Women Playwrights Series to a powerful close on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at 7:00pm with a staged reading of Not It! by playwright Kathleen Coudle-King. The performance will take place in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center on the campus of Centenary University. Admission is free, with donations welcomed.

Anyone age 16 and older, with any theatrical background or experience, is welcome to try out for this much-adored show. No appointments are necessary; all roles are open.
