(WEEHAWKEN, NJ) -- The vibrant rhythms of Latin music will take over the stage one last time this spring, as United Children's Music Project's Latin Night Thursdays series wraps up with the electrifying sounds of "Rumba Cubana and Rhythms" and the dynamic artistry of Enildo Rasua ("The Third Hand") on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 7:30pm (4710 Park Avenue, Weehawken, NJ). Proper attire and a $15 donation at the door are requested.
Latin Night Thursdays is an exciting new initiative by UCMP, bringing together world-class musicians and community members in a dynamic celebration of Latin music and culture. Whether you're an avid music lover, a dancer, or simply looking for an exciting night out, these events promise an unforgettable experience!
Why This Matters: “Latin Night Thursdays is more than a concert,” said Melina Garcia, Founder and Executive Director of UCMP. “When you show up for a night of music and dancing, you're also saying yes to creativity, to community, to culture, and to access. Our local communities’ participation and support for Latin Night Thursdays directly impact the future of UCMP’s programs and the talented teaching artists who serve our students.”
Supporting a Great Cause: All proceeds from Latin Night Thursdays will benefit UCMP, helping us continue our mission of providing high-quality, low-cost after school music education and cultural experiences to underserved children and youth in our Hudson County communities.
UCMP’s impact continues to grow: We’re now proudly counting four students currently attending The Juilliard School, including Michelle Argueta from José Martí STEM Academy and Nailah Gutierrez from Union City High School. Both Michelle and Nailah are members of UCMP’s Chamber Orchestra and proud representatives of Hudson County’s talent and promise.
Don’t Miss Out! UCMP’s final Latin Night Thursdays this spring promises not only unforgettable music and dancing, but also a meaningful opportunity to support arts education. This concert series will continue in the fall. Mark your calendars, invite your friends, and come celebrate Latin America’s rich musical heritage with us!
United Children's Music Project has been providing access to low-cost orchestral music education in Hudson County since 2012. A pioneer of the El Sistema movement in the Garden State, we believe that all children deserve to have access to high-quality music and arts education that is affordable and transformative.
Modeled after Venezuela’s world-renowned El Sistema program, UCMP provides children & and youth from PreK-12th grade an after-school program that builds skills and character. Orchestra performances, field trips and parent involvement round out the experience of discipline, cooperation and fun learning.
All young people need an opportunity to reach their full potential!
Music is a universal language that connects us and brings us together. Now, more than ever, underserved youth in our country need programs like UCMP that provide access to music, arts and life skills for the future. In underserved communities, there is even a greater need for after-school programs that cultivate creativity, self-esteem and ongoing learning – especially during these uncertain and changing times. Join us in our vision to change lives through music!
