Pioneer Productions Company presents Jonathan Larson's enduring masterpiece "RENT"

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Pioneer Productions is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of RENT, the iconic Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical with music, lyrics, and book by Jonathan Larson. The performances will run from June 13-22, 2025, at The Stage at Fellowship Hall, located in the Morristown United Methodist Church.

Set in New York City’s East Village amid the AIDS crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s, RENT tells the unforgettable story of a group of struggling artists navigating love, loss, identity, and the cost of living. With a raw, electrifying score and timeless message, RENT celebrates the power of community, chosen family, and living without regret.

Directing this production is Pioneer’s co-founder and Executive Director, Shanna Levine-Phelps, with Music direction by Marisa Green, choreography by Erica Stuppler, and production and set design by Pioneer’s Artistic Director, Dan Vissers.

RENT has held an extremely special place in my heart since I first saw it in 1996,” said Shanna Levine-Phelps. “I’ve always wanted to be a part of a production, and now having the chance to direct RENT with such a phenomenal group is beyond my wildest dreams. Their dedication, passion, and creativity have brought an electrifying energy to the production, and I cannot wait for our audiences to see the magic we will create together.”

Performances take place June 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22.  Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm, Sundays at 3:00pm. Additional matinee performance on Saturday, June 21 at 2:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase online. The Stage at Fellowship Hall (Morristown United Methodist Church), 50 South Park Place, Morristown, New Jersey.

Showcasing a wealth of local talent, the cast includes Allie Acquafredda as Mimi, Michael Barthel as Roger, Parick Comey as Collins, Jade Delos Santos as Joanne, Alyssa Goldman as Maureen, Connor McDowell as Mark, Frankie Perez as Benny, and Mike Trujillo as Angel.  The power-packed ensemble features Tiffany Bizub, Amber Brown, Leila Tai Brown, Sarah Ferrier, Tracey Lynne Haskell, Joseph Jean-Marie, Lauren Mangine, Morgan Takara Sherlock, Rostafa, and Morgan Todisco.

Funding for this show has been made possible in part by funds from Morris Arts through the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.

Pioneer Productions was incorporated in 3 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit theatre company by founding members Dan Vissers, Shanna Levine-Phelps,and Jon Mantes. The Company’s mission is to share our collective human story through live theatrical performance by producing shows relevant to our time and inspiring audiences to attend live theater.

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Return to the era when families gathered around the wireless set for "theater of the imagination." The Toms River Branch of the Ocean County Library will host a live presentation by WREP: When Radio Entertained People on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm.
