(LOS ANGELES, CA) -- In the wake of the digital music revolution and the advent of streaming platforms, the traditional concept of radio – as a place where music lovers would go to hear their favorite artist’s new single or discover some buzz about a band – has largely gone the way of the 8-track. But for a generation of fans and artists, rock radio still holds a place in our hearts, and Kentucky’s premiere progenitors of southern fried cowpunk, Nine Pound Hammer, come not to bury rock radio but to celebrate it in all its glory.
On August 25, the band is set to release a new studio album called Rock N’ Roll Radio that finds the band blasting through beloved tracks like Sex Pistols’ “Did You No Wrong,” The Stones’ “Gimme Shelter,” Judas Priest’s “Heading Out To The Highway” and even a full-throttle new version of the band’s own “Run Fat Boy Run!” This week the band shares the song that predicted radio’s demise and subsequent nostalgia over 40 years ago, The Ramones’ 1980 single “Do You Remember Rock N’ Roll Radio.”
Tune in to your favorite FM radio station and wait very patiently for the song to come on…or just choose your favorite streaming service here.
The band declares, “These songs were part of the soundtrack heard in the backseats and basements from our youth.” Watch for the full-length album Rock N’ Roll Radio on both CD and vinyl available everywhere on August 25!
You can order the CD/Vinyl here or pre-save the digital copy here.
The album is released on Cleopatra Records.
