Mayor Reiman Swears in 22 Police Officers in Ceremony at the URSB Carteret Performing Arts & Events Center

originally published: 05/10/2022

(CARTERET, NJ) --- Mayor Daniel J. Reiman swore in 22 Police Officers on Saturday, May 7th, 2022 at the Carteret Performing Arts Center to both new and expanded roles.

“Today represents the largest such ceremony in Borough history,” said Mayor Reiman. “It is a special day because it represents our first gathering and ceremonial swearing in since the beginning of the COVID global pandemic that just a short time ago would have prevented us from coming together in this place.”

The ceremony, attended by hundreds of family members and friends at the brand new 1,600 seat facility, featured the oaths of three Lieutenants – James Hart, Louis Muzyka, and Theodore Nycz; five Detectives – Justin Craig, Erick Guzman, Ruben Martinez, Anthony Ramos, and Lawrence Yang; nine Police Officers – Jason Abrantes, Kellie Inglis, Anthony Kassis, Javier Lopez-Santos, Jonathan Ocasio, Yeudy Rodriguez, Daniel Sanfilippo, Anthony Singh, and Wilson Toribio; two Special Law Enforcement Officers Class II – Matthew Olivo and Oskar Dudzik; Deputy Chief John Kelly and Chief Dennis McFadden.

Chief McFadden was the first Chief in the state whose contract was renewed under new NJ State legislation allowing Chiefs to serve past their 65th Birthday.

This past winter, nine Carteret Police Officers were awarded the Detective Joseph Seals Valor Award for Excellence in Policing for their life-saving response to the July 2021 fire at the Bristol Station Apartment Building.

“The men and women of the Carteret Police Department have a long, proud history of daily sacrifice in the name of protecting our community from dangers, both seen and unseen,” said Mayor Reiman. “Often, they are called upon to do the unthinkable – to perform deeds that few will ever understand, appreciate, or be able to handle themselves. Some of the men and women here today have been serving our community for decade while others will be taking the first steps of what I believe will be a long and fulfilling journey in a life dedicated to public service.”
