Soul Project NOLA Brings New Orleans Musical Flavor to Annual New Jersey Tour

originally published: 06/09/2025

From June 18-25, 2025, Soul Project NOLA makes their way from New Orleans to New Jersey for their annual tour. The mini tour includes stops at venues that welcome the band back every year to the delight of their audiences, plus a first stop in Wayne, Pennsylvania at 118 North and a show in Atlantic City at Mardi Gras on The Boardwalk, a weekly summertime celebration of the musical legacy of New Orleans.  The Atlantic City show features NJ favorites The Ocean Avenue Stompers and members of Dogs in a Pile.

Band founder Cristian Duque, a protege of New Orleans legend Walter "Wolfman" Washington tells us, "We really look forward to our trip to New Jersey every summer to play for our fans, friends and family. I have been living and working in New Orleans for 25 years but I was raised on the Jersey Shore so for me this is a homecoming of sorts."

He further explains, "Our favorite regular spots like The Lizzie Rose Music Room, R Bar and Jamian's are having us back and we are also looking forward to playing our first time at 118 North in PA, Music Mondays at Springwood Park in Asbury and the popular concert series Mardi Gras on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City.

Drawing upon the funky spirit and foundation of their home of New Orleans, Soul Project NOLA beautifully captures the mix of Funk, Jazz, Blues, Gospel and Groove that the Crescent City continually produces. The band's core rhythm section is a tight and funky unit that provides the infectious grooves and precision arrangements for which the band is known.  Augmented by some of the top musicians in the city including bassist Wanda Jacobs (a New Orleans native and Grammy winner), Keyboardist Mikey "B3" Burkart,   Saxophonist Eric Bernhart, and drummer Wayne Maureau, the band has toured coast to coast in the United States and has traveled to Northern Europe to play clubs and festivals.

Soul Project NOLA performs a dynamic blend of originals and classic New Orleans artists that bring audiences to their feet across the country!

“It’s good to hear a band whose sound hearkens to back in the day but also has a modern touch......makes this band a level higher than most of the other funk bands in New Orleans and across the U.S.” - David Kunian, Offbeat

Rock On! This Week's Sound Bites...6/19/254

"Reese Wynans, I came to know him when he joined Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble and then after Stevie Ray Vaughn was killed, he played with a lot of people but for the last few years he's primarily toured with Joe Bonamassa. He's an amazing keyboard player and a super guy. I didn't know him prior to working on this record but my friend Mark Prentice who produced it with me suggested we bring him in and it was a perfect call."
