Veteran VooDUDES front man Andy Bernstein drops his latest solo album, “Tellin’ Myself Weird Li’l Stories,” on Deko Entertainment/ADA Warner Music on May 18.

The first single from the album, “Risen from The Dead,” is the Makin Waves Song of the Week.

As the Makin Waves Song of the Week, “Risen from The Dead” also can be heard between 6 and 8 p.m. on May 16 on “Radio Jersey at ThePenguinRocks.com. If you miss it, you can tune in any time in the archives at The Penguin and Mixcloud.

“Risen from The Dead” is a driving, humorous, secular gospel tune. This is Andy B’s third solo album, all of which were produced by John Pittas, keyboardist of The Blue Highways Band, Dead On Live and The VooDUDES. John also arranged the forthcoming album’s strings.

The 10-song collection combines yarn-spinning lyrics with a range of roots styles and grooves. The band calls its sound “Garageband Americana,” a form of homegrown pub rock that spans many genres with a small combo vibe.

The combo of Andy B.AND SoulFolk consists of VooDUDES guitarist Gary Ambrosy, as well as bassist Paul Daloia, keyboardist Matty Hahn and drummer Bill Homeyer. Album guests include Blues Leaf recording artist “Juke Joint” Jonny Rizz on acoustic guitar and Nugget of New Brunswick vocalist Barbara Homeyer-Hahn.

Andy B.AND SoulFolk will celebrate the release of  “Tellin’ Myself Weird Li’l Stories” on May 23 at Pino's Lounge in Highland Park, and July 26 at West Windsor Summer Concerts on July 26.
