Hot on the heels of his latest album,  the 12-song “Good Crook,” Jersey-raised, New Orleans-based blues-rocker Chris Vincent has dropped a new single, “Big Trucks Win.”

The swampy ZZ Top-like shuffle down Bourbon Street is the Makin Waves Song of the Week.

As the Makin Waves Song of the Week, “Big Trucks Win” can be heard between 6 and 8 p.m. on Nov. 28 on “Radio Jersey” at ThePenguinRocks.com. If you miss it, you can tune in any time in the archives at The PenguinMixcloud and RadioJersey.net.

“‘Big Trucks Win’ is a love letter to getting a little bit older and, hopefully, a little bit wiser,” Chris said. “I’ve made quite a few mistakes in life that I don’t hide nor shy away from. Those mistakes would never have been made had I not repeatedly placed myself in the wrong situations. In the end, the Big Trucks really do win, but often only if you’re traveling on the same road.”

Chris’ signature blues growl and sweet Delta-inspired slide guitar playing are joined by the truck-like rhythms of legendary NOLA drummer Johnny Vidacovich. The single was recorded by Jake Eckhert at The Rhythm Shack in New Orleans.

Chris plays a 1947 Gibson L-7 he calls Gloria, which be well utilized during a slide guitar masterclass from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Woman’s Club of Red Bank. The night before, he’ll play The Chubby Pickle in Highlands.

Listen to “Big Trucks Win” on Spotify and Apple Music.
