Jacob Tremont releases "Slow Motion Night" on Mint 400 Records

originally published: 06/19/2025

Jacob Tremont has made a name for himself in the indie underground, known for his cinematic songwriting and raw, poetic voice. With a style that blends '90s alt-rock, modern folk, and lo-fi elements, Tremont’s sound is often likened to icons like Elliott Smith, Bright Eyes, and Pavement. As a regular figure in New York and New Jersey’s DIY music scenes, he's built a reputation for his emotionally resonant songs and captivating live performances.

His latest album Slow Motion Night was released in May 2025, via Mint 400 Records, marked a new high point in his artistic journey. Written in the liminal space between heartbreak and self-reinvention, this album is a raw exploration of memory, myth, and emotional release. Featuring a mix of dreamy ballads, energetic indie rock, and deeply personal lyrics, Slow Motion Night is Tremont’s most vivid and cohesive work yet. Fans can expect a textured production, a rotating cast of collaborators, and a collection of songs that feel both intimate and universally relatable.

Praise for Tremont's work has been widespread, with critics noting his ability to seamlessly weave together grit and grace. One reviewer describes his music as "equal parts grit and grace," capturing "time, memory, and feeling into something disarmingly real." Another notes that Tremont’s sound resonates with fans of Elliott Smith and Bright Eyes, delivering "aching beauty without flinching." His ability to blur the lines between memory and myth is also widely celebrated, with one critic remarking that his "raw, cinematic songs linger long after the last note fades."

Slow Motion Night promises to be a defining moment in Tremont’s career—poignant, evocative, and impossible to forget.

Mint 400 Records has grown since 2007 from a label that was created by Neil Sabatino for his band Fairmont to become a label that houses a roster of close to 150 artists and over 600 releases including their instrumental and jazz sub-label Raining Music and their newest sub-label Bad Catt Records.
