(ASBURY PARK, NJ) – WHITEPOINT (formerly Exhibit No.9), celebrating their 9th year in Asbury Park, hosts the group exhibition "ARTICULTURE”, with Luis Bivar, Erik Minter, Edwin Santiago and founding resident artist Tom White. The exhibition opens Saturday, June 4, 2022 with a reception featuring the artists from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.
LUIS BIVAR - is a contemporary figurative and multidisciplinary artist who lives and works in Cascais, Portugal. Influenced by the Pop Art movement, he believes that new media is a permanent challenge and explores various techniques in his artwork - drawing, mixed media, collage, and sculpting. His work is collected internationally and is exhibited at art fairs and galleries worldwide. WHITEPOINT has been working with Luis since 2014.
ERIK MINTER - New Jersey-based contemporary artist Erik Minter makes paintings that bridge abstraction into surreal figuration. “As a painter, I explore the human interaction we have with gravity, light and speed. Experimenting with both my own physical limits in achieving the gesture, to the environment that surrounds us, affecting how the paint cures and how light reacts, it’s through these acts and variables in my process that help me seek new meaning in my painterly expression.” Recent exhibitions include London, Brussels, Italy, Sydney, and the United States.
EDWIN SANTIAGO - Edwin Santiago is of Puerto Rican descent and resides in New Jersey. Though drawing at an early age, it wasn't until his 30s that he discovered his love of painting. His first series called "Portraits of Blue" was collected immediately. After taking a six-year hiatus from painting for family and work, a request for a commissioned portrait of Jimi Hendrix - a seminal work - reignited his passion for painting. For ARTICULTURE: “My inspiration for the ‘Café con Flores’ series came from the staples of a Latin household. I hope to convey my culture and feeling of home through the beautiful simplicity of coffee and flowers.”
TOM WHITE - For Tom, contemporary art is a space that is wide open to interpretation. His process is a hybrid of the disciplines of photography, painting, design, science, technology, and printmaking - in both analog and digital media. The foundation of his work is the curiosity, exploration and unfolding of the world around us, man made or natural. Tom’s clients are art collectors, art consultants, developers, interior designers, and architects. In addition to commercial and residential commissions, his work is in numerous private collections.
