(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Art House Productions' INKubator program is an eight-month generative playwriting process for six playwrights-in-residence in Jersey City, culminating in the annual INKubator New Play Festival in May. From October 2024 to May 2025, playwrights will meet monthly in person as a group alongside program director Alex Tobey to develop the first draft of a brand new play and receive feedback.
At the end of the process in May, each writer will collaborate with a professional director and actors to present a public staged reading as part of the annual INKubator New Play Festival.
INKubator supports playwrights and the plays they are creating at their earliest stages of development while fostering long-term artistic relationships with Art House and the Art House community.
Eligibility: Open to playwrights with any connection to New Jersey, whether through residency, education, work, or family. While New Jersey residency is not required, a strong association to the state is preferred.
Application Details: Submit by Tuesday, September 3, 2024, with a $15 fee. Applications will be reviewed by a panel, and all applicants will be notified by the end of September. For assistance due to ADA-related needs, contact Alex Tobey at [email protected].
Committment: Participants must attend monthly in-person meetings and be available for the festival in May. Monthly Meetings will be held October 7, November 4, December 2, January 6, February 3, March 3, and April 7, 2025.
Benefits: Includes a $150 stipend, a one-day rehearsal and public performance at the festival, promotional support, free admission to events at Art House Productions, and access to theater space for meetings and rehearsals.
