Centenary Stage Company's Great Authors Out Loud Series Presents "A Celebration Of Shakespeare" (HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Centenary Stage Company's Great Authors Out Loud Series returns with a "Celebration of Shakespeare" through a collection of Shakespeare's works on Sunday, April 23rd at 7:00pm. This event will celebrate the playwright's birthday and the 400th anniversary of his first folio. Presented by Anne Occhiogrosso and Randall Duk Kim, this event is free to attend, and advanced reservations require a $5.00 donation.
State Theatre Presents "Legally Blonde-The Musical" (NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The fully renovated State Theatre New Jersey presents Legally Blonde—The Musical with four performances from Friday, April 28 through Sunday, April 30, 2023. Based on the iconic movie, Legally Blonde—The Musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, sexism, snobbery, and scandal in pursuit of her dreams, and proves, contrary to dated bias, that you can be both legally blonde AND the smartest person in the room.
Middletown Arts Center Accepting Submissions For "The MAC ONE-ACTS" Play Reading Festival (MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- The Middletown Arts Center is accepting submissions to The MAC ONE-ACTS annual play-reading festival featuring original, one-act works by New Jersey playwrights. Entries from New Jersey residents ages 13 and older will be accepted and must be original, unpublished scripts adhering to standard professional play format with run-times of no longer than 30 minutes. Submission deadline is Friday, April 21, 2023 at 11:59pm.
Inis Nua Theatre presents Philadelphia Premiere of "Hymn" by Lolita Chakrabarti (PHILADELPHIA, PA) -- Inis Nua Theatre Company presents the final mainstage production of its 19th season with the Philadelphia premiere of Hymn, written by British playwright Lolita Chakrabarti. This play tells the story of two brothers who meet in adulthood, and their attempt to find connection and become family. This music-filled two-hander will be directed by Eric Carter and stars Dwayne Alistair Thomas and Garrick Vaughan. The show runs from April 12 to April 30th, for a total of 15 performances. All performances will take place at the Louis Bluver Theatre at The Theatres at the Drake, 302 S. Hicks Street in Philadelphia.
PHOTOS from "The Diary of Anne Frank" at Holmdel Theatre Company (HOLMDEL, NJ) -- The Diary of Anne Frank has captivated readers around the world for decades, and now, audiences in Holmdel will have the chance to experience the powerful story in a new theatrical production. The Holmdel Theatre Company production, directed by Amy Jones, produced by Laurie Devino and performed by a talented ensemble, will run weekends from Saturday, April 15th to Sunday, April 30th. Cranston Dean to Release "Northern Town" (ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- Cranston Dean will release his 6th album, Northern Town, on May 11, 2023. Film About First Jewish Farming Community in U.S. in Salem County to Premiere at Stockton University (GALLOWAY, NJ) -- Stockton University will host the premiere screening of “ALLIANCE,” a new documentary about the first successful Jewish farming colony in America on Sunday, April 16. The feature-length film is the directorial debut of Susan Donnelly, a descendant of one of the founding families of the Alliance Colony in Pittsgrove Township, Salem County. The screening begins at 12:30pm.
