(WEST HUDSON, NJ) -- The West Hudson Arts & Theater Company (WHATCo) is celebrating their Main Stage 2023 season with the debut of the comedy farse Drop Dead! by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore, and with a much-anticipated move to a new performance space in Harrison, NJ. Productions of this potboiler murder mystery continue Friday and Saturday, March 3rd and 4th at 7:00pm. Photographer John Posada was on hand to take photos.

 



State Theatre New Jersey Presents "R.E.S.P.E.C.T."
 

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- The fully renovated State Theatre New Jersey presents R.E.S.P.E.C.T., an electrifying tribute celebrating the legendary Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin on Saturday, March 11 at 8:00pm and Sunday, March 12 at 2:00pm. Tickets range from $40-$98.

A Special Presentation on 'Women in Jazz' by Historian Chuck Granata and Filmmaker Jim Burns
 

(MADISON, NJ) -- Author, producer and music historian Charles L. (Chuck) Granata will present a 90-minute program focusing on the importance of Women in Jazz at the New Jersey Jazz Society's Jersey Jazz LIVE! program on March 5th. The event takes place at the Madison Community Arts Center.

Sourland Mountain Festival Returns in July
 

(RINGOES, NJ) – -Mark your calendars now, because on Saturday, July 15th, from 3:00pm – 8:30pm, the Sourland Conservancy will be hosting its 18th Annual Sourland Mountain Festival! The Sourland Mountain Festival will again be presented by Unionville Vineyards, with a VIP Experience provided by The Ryland Inn and will feature live music, local food, craft beer, wine and spirits, mountain history, and family activities. Proceeds will benefit the Sourland Conservancy, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the history and ecology of the Sourland Mountain region of Central New Jersey.

25 Years of The Wag: Brian Ostering Talks History, Special Night, and New Album
 

The Wag will celebrate the band's 25th Anniversary and the release of their new album, Blue Bottles and Copper Coins, at The Strand Theater in Lakewood on Saturday, March 25, 2023. Based in Monmouth County, the band includes Brian Ostering and his wife Alicia Van Sant, Don Lee, and Joshua Van Ness. All four take turns as lead vocalist through catchy original songs and create an tremendously fun atmosphere on stage. They perform everywhere from coffeehouses and libraries to clubs and concert halls and have played shows in England, Canada, Japan, and the West Coast. Not many bands ever last a decade much less twenty-five, so we reached out to Brian to learn the complete story of the band and talk about the new album and special night.

 



Wharton Arts Awards Two Local Teens with Accolades
 

(BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ) -- On February 24, Wharton Arts announced that two local teens have received awards from the Garden State’s leading performing arts education organization. Aadhitya Raam Ashok of Edison is the winner of the inaugural Wharton Arts Annual Choral Composition Competition and Nina Park of Basking Ridge is the winner of the 2023 New Jersey Youth Symphony Concerto Competition.

(NEWTOWN, PA) -- The ZLOCK Performing Arts Center (Zlock PAC) welcomes comedian Tom Cotter for a one-night-only of straight, 90-minute uproarious comedy on Friday, March 10, 2023.  Cotter, who has taken the comedy scene by storm since finishing as a runner-up on “America’s Got Talent,” became a breakout star instantly.

Gazing out the window on NJTransit south to Trenton, and then on Amtrak further south to Philadelphia and Baltimore, one sees brick row houses, sometimes crumbling, sometimes boarded up, covered with words that express desolation. There are solitary figures here and there, or perhaps a face looking out from a window. Better times might have been in the past, for these places.

Poetry of Crisis and Community Benefit to Take Place in Jersey City
 

(JERSEY CITY, NJ) -- Jersey City's Office of Cultural Affairs and Poet Laureate of Jersey City, Ann E. Wallace present Poetry of Crisis and Community on March 2, 2023 at 7:00pm at Froth on Franklin in Jersey City Heights. A Women’s History Month Poetry Reading featuring Jersey City Poet Laureate, Ann Wallace, Theta Pavis, Madhuri Pavamani, and Crystal Letters. This benefit event is part of National Women’s History Month. The admission of $10 will benefit the Earthquake Relief Efforts in Turkey and Syria by Doctors Without Borders.

(ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- The Atlantic Highlands Arts Council presents Write Away! - a light-hearted approach to what some consider a serious endeavor: putting the written word on paper (or computer).
