WBGO Chief Technology Chief David Antoine Elected to Board of Society of Broadcast Engineers

(NEWARK, NJ) -- David Antoine, Chief Technology Officer for Newark Public Radio (WBGO) was elected to the Board of the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE), a non-profit professional organization formed in 1964, which serves its global society of broadcast engineers. The national board of directors of the SBE, to which Antoine was appointed earlier this month, is responsible for the development of policy and determines the programs and services the society provides to its nearly 5,000 members.

WBGO President & CEO, Steven A. Williams, remarked, "This most recent acknowledgement of David's expertise and influence fits like a glove. He's one of an elite group of pioneering engineers that have kept broadcasting operations in the world's #1 media market running at the forefront of development and execution. There is simply no better place to be than New York City if you're a media professional and that is largely because the engineers here are the best in the business. The work that David has done over the course of 4 decades is an integral part of that esteemed legacy."

A broadcast veteran with a career devoted to the New York radio market, David Antoine’s profession in broadcast technology spans some 40 years with market leaders such as: WBLS-FM / WLIB-AM, WOR-AM, WQHT-FM, WRKS-FM, WNCN-FM, WQXR-FM / WQEW-AM and WBGO-FM.

"I am happy and excited to be elected to the National SBE Board of Directors," noted Antoine. "I am joining an esteemed group of peers and colleagues whom I have great respect for. Looking forward to working together with them to further the profession of broadcast engineering, and represent WBGO / Newark Public Radio on a national stage."

He will begin his term on Sept. 29, 2022, during the SBE Membership Meeting.
