originally published: 01/14/2026

(OLD BRIDGE, NJ) -- People Get Ready for the 'Keeping the Blues Alive' 2026 Tour, featuring the BBD Rhythm & Blues Band. They have two shows in January - Sammy D's Bar Wine & Spirits in Old Bridge on Saturday, January 24th and Lizzie Rose Music Room in Tuckerton on Friday, January 30, 2026.  Additional shows run throughout February.

BBD is a premier Electric Blues band, performing throughout New Jersey and the Northeast. The band was formed during 2012. The name “BBD” represents the initials of the founding members of the band. (RIP) Barry “Blues” Holmes, guitar and vocals; James “JB” Barnes, bass and vocals; and Tommy “Earthquake” Doud, drums and vocals. MoeDene, on guitar and vocals joined the band in 2021. Founding members, Barry “Blues” Holmes, James “JB” Barnes and Tommy “Earthquake” Doud, were inducted into the New Jersey Chapter of the Blues Hall of Fame, hailed as “Great Blues Artists”.

During 2024, BBD was one of just eight bands selected to represent New Jersey's “Road to Memphis” International Blues Challenge, hosted by the North Jersey Blues Society. BBD finished in the top three, but more than that, they were thrilled to be a part of the competition to represent New Jersey.

Founding member, James “JB” Barnes released the CD, JB’s Favorite Things in 2023. In 2024 the North Jersey Blues Society released the album Jersey Blues Collection which includes one of JB's songs, "I’m a Blues Man – who sometimes plays rock & roll” from JB’s Favorite Things. JB’s follow-up record My Mississippi Roots was released in October 2025 and has received 5-star reviews, both nationally and worldwide.

Many talented musicians and vocalists continue to perform live with BBD. Anthony Krizan (ex-Spin Doctors) on, guitar and vocals; Joey Stan, saxophone; Hayley Doud, vocals, Jarred “Arktkt” Barnes, keyboards/vocals; and vocalist, Steven Braxtono.
