(PLAINFIELD, NJ) -- Plainfield Symphony presents a free Family Concert, “All That Jazz,” on Saturday January 28 at 3:00pm which will feature a first-time collaboration with young musicians from the Plainfield Academy for the Arts and Advanced Studies (PAAAS) magnet school and their director, Gregory O. Williams. Maestro Charles Prince will lead the PSO in selections from iconic Big Band, jazz and movie composers. The concert takes place at the Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church (716 Watchung Avenue) in Plainfield.
The program will include pieces performed by the PSO, works performed by the PAAAS ensemble and some combined group selections. Featured composers and tributes will include Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington tributes as well as music by Leonard Bernstein, Dave Brubeck, Cab Calloway, Benny Goodman, Henri Mancini and Glenn Miller.
Join them for lively music full of the rhythms and excitement of some of the Jazz icons of the 20th century. You may also view the livestream performance on their website and on the Plainfield Symphony YouTube Channel.
Plainfield Symphony Orchestra (PSO), founded in 1919, is the oldest community symphony in New Jersey. They strive to serve the central and northern New Jersey community while enriching the lives of citizens with classical music, community service and outreach.
