(PRINCETON, NJ) -- The West Windsor Arts Council presents WWACFEST on Saturday, August 4th from 11:00am to 8:30pm. The free event is a one-day performance festival of diverse genres held at the Nassau Park Pavilion in the Shopping Center on Route 1 behind Panera. The day includes traditional cultural dance, jazz, rock, music for children, circus, art activities, folk-art vendors, ethnic food, and more. This year's headlining act is Ja-Tun and Random Acts of Soul. The raindate is August 5, 2018.
Last year’s event attracted over 800 people of all ages throughout the day.
11:30am-11:40am -- Circus Place (Circus Arts) - Located in Hillsborough, NJ, Circus Place offers a full array of circus classes for all ages, abilities and fitness levels. Specializing in the disciplines of aerials, balance, manipulations, and acrobatics, their aim is to build skills while encouraging trust and community in the true spirit of circus.
11:40am-12:40pm -- Malidelphia (World Fusion) - Malidelphia is a folkloric performance-art concert bridging African immigrant and African-American communities through traditional and contemporary song, dance, music, masquerade and folklore. Inspired by Ira Bond and his experiences in West Africa, Malidelphia brings established Malian and Philadelphian musicians together to celebrate both traditional and modern styles of music and dance.
12:50pm-1:20pm -- Noah Buchholz (Interactive Storyteller) - Noah Buchholz is an American Sign language (ASL) speaker, performing artist, and translator. Having grown up in both a Deaf and hearing world, his ASL literary works communicate the beauty of Deaf culture and the struggles of Deaf people as well as educate hearing people about the reality of Deaf culture.
1:30pm-2:30pm -- Zaccai Curtis (Latin Jazz Fusion) - Zaccai Curtis is a pianist, bandleader and musician of Puerto Rican and African American ancestry. He performs with artists such as Cindy Blackman-Santana, Brian Lynch, Ralph Peterson, Ray Vega, Antoine Roney, Wallace Roney, Jerry Gonzalez, Papo Vasquez, Donald Harrison, Stacie Orrico, and many notable others.
2:55pm-3:55pm -- Recycled Sounds (Folk Industrial) - Recycled Sounds developed out of world renowned percussionist Dendê Macêdo’s interest in making instruments out of found materials. His sustainable practice transmits an important message about our environment, conveyed through his wacky performance on a bunch of wild looking instruments that make some interesting and distinctive sounds.
4:05pm-4:40pm -- Osiris Wildfire (Hip-Hop/Blues/Folk) - From the City of Brotherly Love comes singer, rapper and songwriter Osiris Wildfire Osiris. Osiris creates music that encourages the nurturing Mother Earth and her inhabitants. What really drives Osiris? To be a positive and inspirational being at a high level of consciousness and to share this through his music.
4:45pm-5:45pm -- Pasadeo (World Fusion) - Pasadeo is an eclectic band based out of New Jersey, influenced by the sounds of Indie Rock, Bhangra, Spanish and Middle Eastern music.
5:55pm-6:55pm -- SEJ (Jazz Fusion) -- Daniel is a Philadelphia-based Tabla player and percussionist. Extensive study in the US and India as well as performing with jazz legend Badal Roys “Dharma Jazz” and Grammy winner Paul Winter Consort have kept him moving further into subtle pulsations. In Philadelphia, Daniel plays with The Vehicle and with Hennessey Bonfire. Daniel teaches Tabla in the Philadelphia/Princeton area.
7:10pm-8:30pm - Ja-Tun and Random Acts of Soul (Traditional Rhythm and Blues) -- Ja-Tun and Random Acts of Soul is a 5 to 8 piece unit performing a combination of cover and original R&B, Soul, Dance and Pop music. An energetic, multi-genre party band who provide an interactive live show designed to delight, they perform in Philadelphia, Atlantic City, Pocono Resorts and Central New Jersey. They have been billed alongside the likes of Kindred the Family Soul, Raheem DeVaughn, Jeff Bradshaw, and more.
