The Lord Stirling Theater Company Presents "Treasure Island"

(BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- The Lord Stirling Theater Company will present Treasure Island in the English Barn Theater at the Farmstead Arts Center October 5-7 and October 12-14. Adapted for the stage by award-winning playwright Ken Ludwig (Lend Me a Tenor, Crazy for You) from the classic novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, Treasure Island follows the adventures of a boy named Jim Hawkins who comes into possession of a treasure map.

At the heart of the story is the relationship between young Jim and the infamous one-legged pirate, Long John Silver. A swashbuckling tale of buccaneers and buried gold, Treasure Island is entertainment for audiences of all ages.

The cast includes: Kacey Hunt of North Plainfield as Jim Hawkins, Bill Ward of Basking Ridge as Long John Silver, Sharon McGuire of Westfield as Squire Trelawney/Job O’Brien, Lisa M. Black of Westfield as Dr. Livesey/Captain Flint, Jack Roberts of Morristown as Captain Smollett/Ben Gunn/Black Dog, Allen Roberts of Maplewood as Billy Bones/Jemmy Rathbone/Beggar/Calico Jack, Maxwell C. Blackriver of Mendham as Blind Pew/Israel Hands, Allan Gershenson of Linden as George Merry, Garry Tamburro of Springfield as Justice Death, Ed McCarty of Bridgewater as Ezekiel Hazard/Reverend Mainwaring, Lara E. Jordan of Woodbridge as Anne Bonny/Mrs. Hawkins, Robert H. Goodwin of Highland Park as Josiah Bland/Mr. Hawkins, and Richard Bull of New Providence as Tom Morgan/Boy/Sailor/Pirate.

Treasure Island will open on Friday, October 5, at 7:30pm, with additional performances on October 6 at 7:30pm, October 7 at 2:00pm, October 12 and 13 at 7:30pm, and October 14 at 4:00pm. Tickets are $20 general admission, or $15 for seniors (65 and over), Farmstead Arts members, and students. Tickets may be purchased online or at the door (cash only).

Treasure Island is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.

The Farmstead Arts Center is located at 450 King George Road, Basking Ridge, NJ. The English Barn Theater is wheelchair accessible. Anyone anticipating the need for additional accessibility services please send an e-mail in advance to farmsteadartscenter@gmail.com.

Treasure Island concludes The Lord Stirling Theater Company’s fifth season at the Farmstead Arts Center, which also featured a production of William Shakespeare’s The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice in June. Past productions include Arsenic and Old Lace and Of Mice and Men in 2017, And Then There Were None and The Dresser in 2016, The Tempest and Frankenstein’s Fate in 2015, and “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” in 2014. A dynamic community of creative artists based in Basking Ridge, the group is committed to presenting innovative theater for diverse audiences, through readings and full productions of classical theater and new works, as well as exploring the American experience through compelling productions that illuminate and celebrate our history, culture and literature. The theater group fosters the next generation of theater artists and audiences by providing unique hands-on educational programming and training in all aspects of theater production.
