(GLASSBORO, NJ) -- Eight emerging female choreographers at Rowan University dive into the deep end and take on larger worldly issues such as earthquakes, home, work, blindness and many more in 16 Feet Deep, a program of original dance works running April 20 and 21 at 8:00pm and on April 22 at 2:00pm in Tohill Theatre on the university campus.
The student choreography showcase highlights original student-created dance pieces. These women and their dancers have explored the depths of many overarching themes to produce a highly sophisticated and visceral dance concert. Under the direction of Associate Professor Paule Turner, the Theatre & Dance Department’s choreography class aims to discover articulated physical expression through compositional clarity.
Continuing to promote dance as art, this concert assembles a cast of 33 student performers to showcase student choreography developed through a year-long movement-driven creative process with Turner.
Choreographers Jessica Brotherton of Buena, Kayla Cousins of Pemberton Township, Domenique DeSanto of Washington Township, Kyleigh Errico of Brick Township, Jelan Gaston of South Orange, Haley Migeot of Pitman, Caroline Strehl of Washington Township, and Chyna Wellman of Atlantic City have produced fresh works daring to go into the deep waters of the prominent topics.
Tohill Theatre is located in Bunce Hall on the university’s campus, Route 322 in Glassboro, NJ. Tickets are $10 (general admission) and $5 (seniors/non-Rowan students/staff/alumni/military). Tickets for Rowan students are free with a valid ID. Purchase tickets online at rowan.tix.com.
