Russell Peters To Perform Two Shows at NJPAC

(NEWARK, NJ) -- Emmy and Peabody Award-winning comedian Russell Peters will leave no cultural stereotype unturned when he brings his brand-new Deported World Tour to NJPAC’s Prudential Hall on Saturday, February 16.  Due to popular demand, there will be two performances: one at 7:00pm and another at 9:30pm.  Tickets range from $49 to $99.

Rolling Stone recently designated Peters as one of the “50 Best Comics of All Time” – a list that also included the likes of Richard Pryor, George Carlin and Eddie Murphy. After 15 years of honing his craft on the stand-up circuit, Peters first gained worldwide recognition in 2004 when his CTV Comedy Now! special became a YouTube sensation. Since then, he’s packed arenas across the U.S. and around the globe, including sold-out engagements at Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall.

Each of Peters’ tours – including Outsourced (2006), Red, White & Brown (2008), and The Green Card Tour (2010) – was turned into a successful special aired on Showtime and Comedy Central. In 2013, Peters became the first stand-up to create a Netflix Original comedy special, the acclaimed, one-man Notorious. His most recent world tour, Almost Famous, was also recorded for Netflix, where it premiered in 2016.

Peters received both Peabody and Emmy awards for his work as executive producer of the acclaimed 2017 Netflix documentary, Hip-Hop Evolution. His other recent credits include The Indian Detective and A Little Help with Carol Burnett (both on Netflix); a recurring role on the CBS hit, Life in Pieces; a seat on the judges’ panel for NBC’s reboot of Last Comic Standing; and big-screen roles in features like The Clappers, Source Code, and Chef. He also makes regular appearances on late-night favorites like The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and more.

New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) is located at 1 Center Street in Newark, New Jersey.
