Ocean County Library's "Tell Your Tale" Virtual Series Runs June 24 to August 10

(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Ocean County Library’s “Tell Your Tale” virtual series lets you meet six local and national storytellers, and learn how to weave narratives of your own. The presentations supplement the Library’s “Tails & Tales” Summer Reading Program.

* “Where Did Toms River Come From?” -  Thursday, June 24 at 2:30pm. Toms River Township Historian J. Mark Mutter describes how the remote village became a municipality, and why its creation is unique in New Jersey history.

* “Wisdom Tales from Around the World” – Tuesday, June 29 at 6:30pm. Julie Pasqual recounts the lives of inspiring and entertaining people throughout history.

* “She Came to Slay” – Saturday, July 10 at 2:00pm. Erica Armstrong Dunbar relates the achievements of Harriet Tubman as a civil rights pioneer, women’s advocate, Civil War volunteer, entrepreneur, nurse, philanthropist, wife, and mother.

* “Secrets of New York City Subways” - Tuesday, July 13 at 3:00pm. Oscar Israelowitz reveals the glorious artwork of the underground transit system.

* “Out of Rushmore’s Shadow” – Tuesday, July 20 at 3:00pm. Lou Del Bianco portrays his grandfather and uses photos, documents and timelines to show Luigi Del Bianco’s contribution as chief carver of the Mount Rushmore Memorial.

* “Introduction to Personal Storytelling” – Tuesday, August 10 at 6:30pm. Terry Wolfisch Cole, founder and host of the Tell Me Another website, unveils the secrets for effective storytelling on stage, in business, or at the family table.
