Monument Of A Memory Releases "Seeking Somewhere"

Monument Of A Memory has released a new single and video for "Seeking Somewhere", a track that will appear on the band's forthcoming album. The band is a modern metal act founded by four longtime friends from Bergen County. The video for the song was directed by Eric DiCarlo @ SquareUp Studios.

In a post on the band's social media, they wrote: "After almost 2 years of blood, sweat, and tears, with heartbreaking moments that almost forced this band to call it quits; We compromised absolutely NOTHING to present you this new vision. Today we present to the world our first new song of many called “Seeking Somewhere” (which) was produced, recorded, and mixed by the amazing Ricky Armellino of Ice Nine Kills/HAWK."

Vocalist/drummer Dylan Newhouse told AltPress, "'Seeking Somewhere' started as a basic synth idea that we had in our demo folder. We never thought the song was even going to be used until we brought it to Ricky. He saw a vision for the song even with such a small idea, and he wanted us all to work together to bring it to life. From there, the song just grew into this rock anthem that we never would’ve thought could have come from that small demo we had. We just started building these riffs on top of the ambiance, and when it came time to do vocals, we just knew this song had potential. Looking back on it, we are super lucky that we didn’t overlook this track in the early stages of the writing process."

Of the highly cinematic new music video, Newhouse adds, "We really wanted to do something theatrical. It’s just something we always appreciated in other artists. So when it came to the imagery for the music video, we wanted to give off this modernized classy Victorian type of look to really make the song and video come off as super dramatic and visually very eye-catching. We wanted the lights to look like we were in an “infinity room” that never ended, and we wanted the outfits, makeup and the entire aesthetic to really give us our own identity. We knew we wanted something over the top. I’ve always been super into fashion and imagery in music, and it’s cool that this band found our own way of expressing ourselves, not only musically but also visually."

Monument Of A Memory is composed of Dylan Newhouse on lead vocals/drums, followed by his twin brother Jeremy Newhouse on guitar, Eren Guney as the bands guitar player and songwriter and Joshua Correa holding down the low end on bass. Incorporating almost all genres of music, Monument Of A Memory create a more modern take on a sound that one might describe as thrash metal, early 2000’s metalcore, modern pop and alternative. On the road as well as locally, they have amassed a loyal and dedicated following throughout the years. Several hundred shows later, after seemingly relentless DIY touring, the NJ band has hit a great stride even selling their own delicious hot sauce, on top of traditional physical CDs as well as amassed several million streams over the past few years. Monument Of A Memory is here to stay.
