(HOLLYWOOD, CA) -- Sneaker culture and its related industries brought in over $76 billion with a B in 2020, and that's just growing. As a result, content creators like Paul Beniamin and his company Like Father Films are finding their foothold in the streaming space by developing titles that serve that incredibly lucrative fan base. Beniamin's independently produced scripted series Kicks & Losers, a fresh narrative told through the lens of an aspiring sneaker designer, follows the sneaker customizer and his struggles to become a household name.
"In putting together the series, cutting edge tech was key," offers Beniamin in talking about his company's collab with Canadian audio experts SonusPro and Sfera Post which produced an exciting first of its kind experience enabling each of season one's seven episodes to be mastered in 3D Audio.
"The energy that SonusPro Studio and Sfera Post brought to our work really took everything up a notch, and I'm confident the 3D technology will soon become an industry standard.”
Daniel Samaan of SonusPro adds, “We were excited to work with Paul debuting the 3D technology because we were personally intrigued by his story and the world he created.”
The lead character, Brandon, finds himself stuck between chasing his dreams, supporting his older sister through her battle with cancer, and entertaining a wildly picturesque dawn-of-love relationship with an emerging pop star, Ava Regency. The series allows fans of the culture to indulge their love of all things from retros to hypebaes, factory-laced colorways to custom kicks, and offers co-viewing options for all ages. A strongly female balanced cast follows a first generation Coptic-Egyptian through his journey pursuing his passions while trying not to sacrifice himself at the alter of his dreams.
Season one is directed by award-winning Hispanic director, Rolando Hernandez III and the talented, ethnically diverse cast and crew of Kicks & Losers, shot season one in New Jersey. Like Father Films is looking to release the series summer of 2021. The mission for Like Father Films is to bring faith, diversity, integrity and innovation to their content for audiences of all ages.
