(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- Palette Gallery brings back its "Singers On The Half-Shell" music series on Sunday, April 29 at 1:00pm with performances by Emily Grove, Tara Dente, and Joseph Alton Miller. Admission is $5.
Emily Grove has had a varied and exciting musical journey, from high school choirs and coffeehouses to Berklee College of Music, to television appearances to tours in the UK and Europe. Being willing to jump into new adventures resulted in a two month tour of the UK, US, and Canada, opening up for and performing with British artist David Ford. She also had her own headlining tour in Germany, Bulgaria, and England. She sang backup for David Gray on the Today Show, and for Social Distortion at the Stone Post Summer Stage. She’s performed regularly with Glen Burtnik in his many large productions, including “The Summer of Love” and his British Invasion, Beatles, and Last Waltz shows. She’s recorded with David Ford, Glen Burtnik ,UK artist Jack Henderson and Steve Forbert among many others. As a solo act, she’s won awards for “Best Female Acoustic Act” at the 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 Asbury Music Awards, and won three Jersey Acoustic Music Awards (best female singer [2011 and 2012]/female songwriter [2011]).
Tara Dente is a folk/alternative guitarist and singer-songwriter. Her earliest memories are of playing her grandmother’s organ, and the upright piano in her childhood living room in Long Branch, NJ, where she learned to play by ear and got her start in music. Tara grew up around the sounds of celtic music and spirituals, later latching on to folk and americana music. After high school, she discovered guitar, and finally voice. In 2012, Tara entered the music scene focused around the historic and creatively re-awakened Asbury Park, NJ, and released her first full-length album, Leave Your Ghosts Behind, in July of 2014. Her second full-length album, The Gleaner, was released on June 2, 2017.
Award winning singer/songwriter, Joseph Alton Miller, is based in Asbury Park, New Jersey. He has shared the stage with acts such as Brandi Carlile, Living Colour, Ellis Paul, Robert Randolph, and Stephen Kellogg.
Palette Gallery is located at 716 Cookman Ave in Asbury Park, New Jersey. It opened in September 2014 on the "arts block" of Cookman Ave in Asbury Park, NJ. They focus on painting and mixed media works by early and mid-career artists. In addition to the main gallery, they have a section of small original works and prints. they also host live music (such as Light of Day Festival, Asbury Underground, and our own Singers on the Half-Shell series), open mic, and film.
