BAILEN, accompanied by Bay Atlantic Symphony & New York Chamber Ensemble, To Perform in Cape May

(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Enjoy a special summer evening of music at the outdoor stage of the Emlen Physick Estate, when the musical touring group BAILEN joins members of the Bay Atlantic Symphony and the New York Chamber Ensemble, performing songs by BAILEN arranged especially for this concert on Thursday, August 26 at 7:00pm on the Emlen Physick Estate Outdoor Stage.. BAILEN’s striking three-part sibling harmonies and evocative songwriting will be enhanced by the luscious strings and woodwinds of the New York Chamber Ensemble and Bay Atlantic Symphony.

BAILEN’s otherworldly musicality springs from a very deep well, in fact, it’s in their DNA. Raised in New York by their classically trained parents, Daniel, David and Julia immersed themselves in the family’s diverse record collection. The group’s highly collaborative songs are formed by three very different individuals who were all inspired by literature and a love of language. The resulting confident, meticulous songcraft of their debut album “Thrilled To Be Here” is rooted in the young group’s preternatural dexterity, insight and lyrical bite.

BAILEN will be joined by their parents, Eliot Bailen and Susan Rotholz, who comprise the New York Chamber Ensemble, along with members of the Bay Atlantic Symphony, led by Conductor Jed Gaylin.

As parents to Daniel, David and Julia, Eliot and Susan are excited to play together as a family. Daniel has written the arrangements, Eliot said, so that most of the songs will be accompanied by string quintet and flute. The arrangements will include both upbeat songs and ballads from their repertoire.

“All the things we do as chamber musicians they do, too, to get the sound they have,” said Eliot. “To me, adding instruments to that is a natural extension of what they do, and adding vocals is a natural extension to what we do.”

Gaylin is excited to participate.

“I really look forward to these arrangements and always to working together with Eliot and Susan, and now, their children. It will certainly be a wonderful musical experience for our musicians as well as for the audience.”
