(HILLSBOROUGH, NJ) -- On Thursday, May 6 at 6:00pm, the enchanting duo of AS IS will perform at the 4th “Sourland Mountain Happy HoursTM”, a live music series offered via Zoom on the first Thursday of each month. Proceeds benefit New Jersey artists and the Sourland Conservancy. Series runs May 6 and June 3 from 6:00pm – 7:00pm. Suggested donation is $10.
James Popik, a New Jersey musician and long-time supporter of the Sourland Conservancy, said “We’re doing what we can to raise the spirits of our community and raise funds to support these artists and the environment”.
Attendees receive discount offers from Sourland Mountain Happy HourTM local business sponsors; Flounder Brewing Company, Sourland Mountain Spirits and Unionville Vineyards.
Musicians for the May 6 show are AS IS, who have been performing in the New York City area since 2005. They are described as "nothing short of enchanting" by All About Jazz in 2015. The musical union, both on and off stage, is comprised of jazz guitarist, Alan Schulman and jazz vocal stylist, Stacey Lynn Schulman. Alan is a noted jazz guitarist from Cincinnati, Ohio who studied with the late great guitarist Cal Collins (formerly of the Benny Goodman Orchestra). Stacey Schulman is a jazz vocal stylist and a native of the New York City area has performed in a variety of musical and theatrical roles and has had the privilege of singing on radio commercials, television series and movie soundtracks throughout her 20+ year musical career. Together they have made a name for themselves for their imaginative re-expressions of 20th-century song classics. AS IS takes audiences on an intimate journey through the world and words of songs long-forgotten - but newly created - with both the soulfulness and swing that's accessible, memorable and highly musical. Their single “Here’s To Life” was the backdrop of a Radio PSA to raise awareness about Lyme Disease throughout the summer of 2018. AS IS donates ALL proceeds from the sale of this music track to the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Educational Foundation (ILADEF). For more musical enchantment go to www.asisjazz.com.

The Sourland Mountain Region contains approximately 25,000 acres of mature, contiguous forest, 7,500 acres of wetlands and 20,000 acres of agricultural land in active production. This mosaic of habitat sequesters carbon and also provides food and shelter for many species, including 57 state-listed threatened and endangered plants and animals. Municipalities, land trusts, nonprofit organizations, businesses, residents and volunteers are working hard to protect and preserve this fragile ecosystem. The New Jersey Forest Service estimates that over one million trees will die within the next few years due to an invasive insect, the emerald ash borer. The first of five public plantings this year - on Earth Day - will be held at Baldpate Mountain in partnership with the Mercer County Park.
