(SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage, professional Theatre in Residence at Oakes Center in Summit, presents Songs in the Garden on August 4 at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum in Summit. Showtime is 6:30pm. The cabaret will be held on the lawn, and the rain date is Thursday, August 5 at 6:30pm. Patrons are invited to bring chairs or blankets and a picnic dinner.
Songs in the Garden features seven vocalists, including Vivid Stage ensemble members Clark Carmichael (Montclair), Harry Patrick Christian (Montclair), Laura Ekstrand (Livingston) and Scott McGowan (Maplewood). They are joined by guests Melissa Cox (Summit), Gail Lou (Englewood) and Vanessa Parvin (Maplewood), and accompanied by Eddie Guttman (Summit).
The singers will present their favorite tunes of the moment, from Broadway to pop to standards. A variety of titles include the familiar, like Route 66 and Georgia on My Mind, and the unexpected, like selections from Taylor Swift and Ben Platt. The cast and audience will share the intimacy and casual nature of the setting amid the beautiful blooms of the Reeves-Reed garden.
Tickets for Songs in the Garden are $25 and can be purchased either in advance online or at the site. The Reeves-Reed Arboretum is located at 165 Hobart Avenue in Summit, and free parking is available.
