(TOMS RIVER, NJ) -- Exit 82 Theatre Company in Toms River has been slowly opening its doors back up, providing innovate, high quality and safe theatre to the community. Exit 82 Theatre Company has made a commitment to the community to use the arts to open our eyes and our minds to different perspectives. Producing the musical, “Hair” following 2020 is a perfect opportunity to use the past to guide them forward. The summer of 2021 has presented itself with an opportunity for growth. The message of this iconic production remains relevant as ever as it celebrates community, identity, politics, peace and what it means to be a young person in a changing world.
Exit 82 has made a statement with its immersive space on the corner of Main Street and Washington Street in the heart of Downtown Toms River and is once again breaking the mold. The crown jewel of this summer production is the “immersive setting” of the Save Barnegat Bay EcoCenter located at 117 Haines Road in Toms River. The venue provides a safe alternative to indoor theatre while we continue to navigate the repercussions of a post-COVID world.
Exit 82 Theatre Executive Director Billy Cardone explains the importance of this performance space: “Save Barnegat Bay EcoCenter is a place that stands for something, just like everything else about this show. It’s a reminder that there is a fight to save our natural world. This show is connecting so many causes, communities, and we are looking forward to this united community experience.”
Save Barnegat Bay leverages their EcoCenter building and environmental assets of the Brown’s Woods Property to offer a wide range of environmental education programs focused on the restoration and protection of the state’s crown jewel – Barnegat Bay. The EcoCenter is a partner and community gathering place for meetings, talks and exhibits, and public educational programs. The EcoCenter further strengthens Save Barnegat Bay’s commitment to education, conservation and environmental stewardship in the community.
Exit 82 presents “Hair” at The Save Barnegat Bay EcoCenter located at 117 Haines Road in Toms River. The show runs July 29 – 31 at 7:00pm and August 5 – 7 at 7:00pm. Tickets are available online at www.exit82theatre.com.

Celebrating thirteen years in business, Exit 82 Theatre Company, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization has been on the Asbury Park Press “Best of the Best Theatre” list in Ocean County five years in a row. Since 2008, Exit 82 has involved over 1000 volunteers, in 40 productions and performed to over 43 thousand patrons from all over the world. And with an eye on the next generation of performers Exit 82 runs a Creative and Performing Arts Academy at 34 Main Street in Toms River. Exit 82 is also the founding host organization of Toms River Pride since 2019.
