(WAYNE, NJ) -- This Thursday, September 9 and Saturday, September 11, Aspire Performing Arts Company (PAC) will hold auditions for its upcoming production of Disney’s Moana JR., based on the hit Disney film. Auditions and rehearsals take place at Our Lady of Consolation’s Ministry Center at 1799 Hamburg Turnpike in Wayne.
Disney’s Moana JR. is a musical adaptation of the 2016 Disney animated film, bringing the adventures of Moana and her village of Motunui to life onstage. Moana JR. features all the beloved songs from the film, written by Tony®, GRAMMY, Emmy, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina, including “How Far I’ll Go,” “Shiny,” and “You’re Welcome.”
This thrilling and heartwarming coming-of-age story follows the strong-willed Moana as she sets sail across the Pacific to save her village and discover the truth about her heritage. Moana and the legendary demigod Maui embark on an epic journey of self-discovery and camaraderie as both learn to harness the power that lies within. With empowering messages of bravery and selflessness, Moana JR. is sure to bring out the hero within each of us.
Performances will take place on Friday, November 12 and Saturday, November 13 at Preakness Reformed Church in Wayne.
Aspire PAC, established in 2011, has earned a strong reputation in the Northern New Jersey area for its high-quality theatrical productions and professional arts experiences for local youth, teens, and young adults. Since 2016, Aspire has received 13 New Jersey Association of Community Theaters (NJACT) Award nominations, four Broadway World Regional Awards (35 nominations), and 35 National Youth Arts Awards (50+ nominations).
Aspire PAC’s production of Disney’s Moana JR. is directed by Aspire PAC Artistic Director Lisa Beth Vettoso and features musical direction by K. Leigh Weinman and choreography by Melanie Della-Peruti. Cheryl Wilbur serves as Associate Director/Production Manager, and Madison Jones is the Stage Manager.
