Theater League of Clifton To Hold Auditions For "Last Chance For Romance"

(CLIFTON, NJ) -- The Theater League of Clifton will holds auditions for its 2020 dinner/theater comedy “Last Chance for Romance” on December 2 and 3 from 7:00pm-9:30pm at Mario’s Restaurant, located at 710 Van Houten Ave., Clifton. Audition call backs are slated for December 5.

The casting call is open to all genders, ethnicities, abilities and ages. The show features five characters: Tony, an Italian restaurant owner, age 50-60s; Carmella, the restaurant hostess and bookkeeper, age 50-60s; Frankie, Tony's son, the cook, age 30; Regina, the gold-digging date number one, age 40; Jen, a young woman applying for waitress job, age 20 (Tony thinks Jen is date number two).

The two-act comedy, written by Marylou Ambrose and Tony Schwartz, tells the story about the humorous travails of senior-citizen online dating. Tony, a 65-year-old restaurant owner has been a widower for three years. Feeling lonely, he decides to try an online dating service to meet women his age. However, when his restaurant hostess gets into his online profile and changes some details about Tony, the women who show up at his restaurant seeking “romance” are not exactly what he had in mind.

Performances will be held at Mario’s Restaurant on February 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, and March 1. Linda Wielkotz will direct the comedy, while Mark Peterson, the president of the Theater League of Clifton, will serve as the producer. Wielkotz has been a prolific director for the Theater League’s annual dinner theater productions. Her list of credits includes “Murder at the Tropicana,” “Dealt a Deadly Hand,” “I’m Getting Murdered in The Morning,” “B.I.N.G.O. Spells Murder,” “The Last Cruise of the S.S. Minnow,” “Lethal Lecture,” and “Murd-arrr!!! At The Salty Dog.”
