Local Police Officers and High School Students Partner To Create A Multimedia Theatrical Production Addressing Social Justice Issues
(ELIZABETH, NJ) -- The Elizabeth Youth Theater Ensemble (EYTE), The Office of Youth, and HBO’s Corporate Social Responsibility division, will present The Privilege of Living developed as a part of EYTE’s Walking the Beat residency: an on-going arts-in-education residency with students from the Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy, in partnership with the local police department. The residency takes place from July 1 – September 15 and there will be two community presentations on Saturday and Sunday, September 14-15, 2019, 7:00pm and 2:00pm at the Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy in Elizabeth, NJ.
Playhouse 22 To Open Season With "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest"
(EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Playhouse 22 kicks off its 61st season with One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest from September 13 - 29 Directed by Gerry Appel, the play is a stage adaptation of the Ken Kesey novel about a group of individuals with various mental illnesses in an Oregon psychiatric facility.
Monmouth Players To Present Agatha Christie's "Black Coffee"
(ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- Monmouth Players presents Agatha Christie's Black Coffee weekends from September 14-29. The Navesink Arts Center in Atlantic Highlands. In the play, accomplished physicist Sir Claud Amory has constructed a workable formula for one of the most deadly weapons known to man - the atom bomb.
East Lynne Theater Company Presents "Arsenic and Old Lace"
(CAPE MAY, NJ) -- Murder! Mayhem! Madcap fun! This side-splitting comedy broke all East Lynne Theater Company box office records in 2018, and returns by popular demand from September 18 through October 12. The 1941 comedy by Joseph Kesselring is about the Brewster sisters who populate their cellar with "acceptable" lodgers. One of their nephews thinks he's Teddy Roosevelt, another is running away from the law, and the third is a theater critic who just wants to get married.
Centenary Stage Company presents Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical
(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Dedicated to serving the region’s youth with dynamic performances and workshops throughout the year, Centenary Stage Company’s Young Audience Series brings Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical to the stage! The production will take place from September 26 to September 30 in the Little Theatre on the campus of Centenary University in Hackettstown, NJ. Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical follows 8-year-old Lily Polkadot who just moved to the "Squares Only" small town of Rockaway.
Genre Defying Lettuce To Perform at Stone Pony On September 20th
(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- It’s been more than 25 years since the formation of Lettuce, a democratic ensemble in which there is no leader, but a complete unit that functions as a single entity with plenty of moving parts. The magic continues to grow with the band’s new album, Elevate. They've been called genre-defying, performing a blend of funk, jazz, soul, hip-hop, psychedelic jam, art rock, experimental, avant-garde music. The band will perform at The Stone Pony on Friday, September 20th for a late night show during the Sea.Hear.Now. Music Festival.
Veterans To Be Honored At Swingin' Sinatra Event In Princeton
(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Karen Morris of Sand Castle Communications will present another swingin' event celebrating the music and talent of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin on Sunday, October 6, 2019, at the historic Nassau Inn in Princeton. The event runs from 11:00am to 2:00pm. During this special event all Veteran attendees will be honored with a patriotic musical medley as a tribute to them and their military service.

Internet radio station and music website BlowUpRadio.com, Where NJ Rock Lives, continues its annual Banding Together: Benefit For The Spondylitis Association of America this fall, once again bringing together some of the best local indie musicians from around the Garden State. The station has lined up several concerts, will hold a live webathon, and has a new digital compilation available for a donation.
Princeton Symphony Orchestra Soundtracks: "The Piano We Know and the Mysteries of Mozart" with James Barron
(PRINCETON, NJ) -- On Wednesday, September 18 at 7:00pm, in partnership with the Princeton Public Library, Princeton Symphony Orchestra (PSO) presents Soundtracks: “The Piano We Know and the Mysteries of Mozart’s ‘Pianos’” with author and journalist James Barron. Mr. Barron takes us into the construction and engineering of today’s pianos and compares them to the early versions of the instrument available in Mozart’s day. There will be a brief question and answer period following the presentation.
Palmer Square Hosts Music Fest 2019
(PRINCETON, NJ) -- Music Fest 2019 will take place On the Green at Palmer Square in Princeton on Sunday, September 15 from 11:00am to 6:30pm. The Main Stage features a performance by JB Rocks, a Frank Sinatra Tribute, Best of New Jersey Mix with Some Assembly Required, and a Bruce Springsteen Tribute with the B-Street Band. The Side Stage includes a Paul Simon Tribute with ALEO-music, and a Bon Jovi Tribute with Slippery When Wet. Admission is free.

MCCC Art Faculty Takes the Stage at The Gallery at Mercer Exhibit
(WEST WINDSOR, NJ) --The focus will be on the faculty for the first art show of the season at The Gallery at Mercer County Community College (MCCC), when the college’s own Visual Arts faculty members will put their personal works on display. The “2019 MCCC Visual Arts Faculty Exhibit” runs from Tuesday, September 10 through Thursday, October 10. According to MCCC’s gallery director, Alice K. Thompson, the faculty show is an opportunity for students to view their professors from a different perspective.
Wellmont Theater Partners with Mental Health Organization to Honor National Suicide Prevention Month
(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- The Wellmont Theater has partnered with the Mental Health Association (MHA) of Essex and Morris Inc., to recognize September as “National Suicide Prevention Month.” The theater is working with the organization throughout September to make suicide prevention resources and donation opportunities available to audience members. These will be both online and in the Wellmont Theater lobby.
