10HL Teachers at STEPS on Broadway - Apprentices Sought(HIGHLAND PARK, NJ) -- 10 Hairy Legsthe male repertory dance company will teach 4 Int/Adv Contemporary Classes at STEPS on Broadway Wednesdays and Fridays from January 9 – 18 from 3:00pm – 4:30pm. Artistic Director Randy James and members of the Artistic Staff will oversee and observe all the classes. Class begins with dynamic floor sequences that warm up the body’s core, using the floor as a tool to explore connectivity throughout the entire body. The floor sequences build on one another, bringing the mover to standing phrases across the floor. Once on two feet the class establishes the body’s connection with dynamic shifts in and out of the ground, culminating in a final phrase that builds upon the body’s exploration of different initiations with supple and expressive virtuosity. Phrase work from their extensive repertory of commissioned and curated work will be explored.

The company seeks 2 paid apprentices for its spring season April – June that concludes with its New York Season June 27 – 29 at New York Live Arts. The season will feature World Premiere Commissions by Larry Keigwin and Adam Barruch.

10 Hairy Legs is a male repertory dance company performing newly commissioned and curated works. Since their founding in 2012 the company has commissioned 14 works and served more than 80,000 patrons, students, artists and educators throughout the NY/NJ region; nationally and internationally in The Cayman Islands and Cape Town, South Africa. Broadcasts have included NJTV’s State of the Arts, The Meredith Vieira Show and Nick Cannon’s Red Nose Dancathon. Dance Education is an important part of their mission and they provide a wide range of programs for all ages exemplifying the many facets of maleness expressed through dance to more than 5,000 students and educators each year.

Their Artistic Collaborators are choreographers Adam Barruch, Al Blackstone, Julie Bour, Seàn Curran, David Dorfman, Dan Froot, Doug Elkins, Larry Keigwin, Raja Feather Kelly, Heidi Latsky, Cleo Mack, Tiffany Mills, David Parker, Stephen Petronio, Claire Porter, Niv Sheinfeld and Oren Laor, Doug Varone, Manuel Vignoulle, Christopher Williams, Megan Williams, Nicholas Sciscione and Yin Yue; musicians/composers Tigger Benford, Sarah Biber, Jane Chung, Lachlan Glen, Kyle Olson, Robert Maggio, Ofer Pelz, Bryan Strimpel, Michael Wall, Dorian Wallace and Peter Whitehead; and designers Abraham Cruz, Oana Botez, Cindy Capraro, Benjamin Heller, Jason Flamos, John Lasiter, Naomi Luppescu, Mary Kokie McNaugher, Dennis O’Leary-Gullo, Lauren Parrish, Amanda Ringger, Amanda Shafran, Ken Tabatchnik, Olivier Theyskens, Asa Thornton and Tuce Yasak. In addition to their work with 10 Hairy Legs,  company members are currently featured artists with The Bang Group, Stephen Petronio Company, Lucinda Childs Dance Company and Zvi Dance, among others.

Ananya Dance Theatre to perform, offer public workshops In New Brunswick
(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- Ananya Dance Theatre (ADT), a contemporary Indian company of women of color committed to the interchange between art and social justice, is set to perform and offer multiple free public workshops here on campus, January 29 through February 2, 2019.  
State Theatre New Jersey presents Savion Glover's All FuNKD' Up
(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents Savion Glover’s All FuNKD’ Up on Thursday, February 7 at 8:00pm. Savion Glover’s All FuNKD’ Up will highlight Glover’s mesmerizing interplay of percussive genius. Glover will be appearing along with his six-piece band and company of dancers. Together they will illuminate his original grooves and compositions. Glover will also be doing a lecture/demonstration for select community groups earlier in the day on February 7. Tickets range from $25-$55.
NAI-NI Chen Dance Company Announce Guest Artist Line-Up for the Year of the Pig Celebration at NJPAC
(NEWARK, NJ) -- The Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company will present a colorful and vibrant special Chinese New Year Celebration at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) on Saturday, February 2 and Sunday, February 3 at 2:00pm.  This year, Nai-Ni Chen bring a new Bamboo themed production aimed to take audiences beyond cultural boundaries. Nai-Ni Chen chose bamboo as a theme to celebrate the Year of the Pig.
Peak Performances Presents "When Angels Fall"
(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Peak Performances Presents Raphaëlle Boitel: When Angels Fall from February 9-17 in the Alexander Kasser Theater at Montclair State University. The season of genre-and-convention-defying performances catapults into 2019 with multidisciplinary visionary Raphaël Boitel’s return to the Alexander Kasser Theater, following her luminous directorial debut The Forgotten. State Theatre New Jersey Presents Dancing with the Stars: Live!
(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents Dancing with the Stars: Live! featuring dancers from Season 27 on Friday, January 25 at 8:00pm. The star joining the cast for the State Theatre performance is Joe Amabile. Lovingly referred to as “Grocery Store Joe,” Amabile was a fan favorite on The Bachelorette season 14 and went on to appear on Bachelor in Paradise season 5. Limited tickets are available from $55-$125.
