(BURLINGTON, NJ) -- The 2017 JerseyArts.com People’s Choice Awards is winding down, with only a few days left for the public to vote for their favorite New Jersey arts groups. Nearly 100 organizations and 11 arts districts are competing this year in 16 categories, including favorite theater to see a musical, opera company, art museum, music festival and more. Area arts lovers have already cast more than 16,000 ballots, with voting ending this Thursday, February 16 at 11:59 p.m.
Now in its ninth year, the Awards – presented by Discover Jersey Arts, a program of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the ArtPride New Jersey Foundation – honors the state’s vital, vibrant and diverse arts community.
“Our goal is to engage a broad audience and raise awareness for the arts organizations and artists in every corner of the state,” said Nick Paleologos, Executive Director of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. “The competition is always fierce but friendly, and in the end the entire industry wins.”
“A number of categories are very close right now. We expect that in some instances winners won’t be decided until every ballot has been cast and counted,” said Adam Perle, President & CEO of the ArtPride New Jersey Foundation. “It’s always very exciting to see which groups rally their fans in the end to push them over the top.”
Winners of the 2017 JerseyArts.com People’s Choice Awards will be announced and honored in March at the New Jersey Conference on Tourism in Atlantic City.
