(BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- The Lord Stirling Theater Company will perform Agatha Christie’s classic murder-mystery And Then There Were None in the English Barn Theater in Basking Ridge, NJ from October 6 to October 16. One of the world’s most famous and popular murder mysteries, And Then There Were None is Agatha Christie’s best-selling novel. She wrote the book in 1939 and adapted it for the stage in 1943.
“One little soldier boy left all alone; he went and hanged himself and then there were none.” Eight strangers arrive at a mansion on a remote island off the coast of England, having been invited there under various pretexts. They are greeted by two house servants. All ten individuals are guilty of a murderous secret. On the first night, they are accused of their respective crimes by a gramophone recording. One by one they are killed, in a manner paralleling a children’s nursery rhyme. Who is the killer? And who will be next to die?
And Then There Were None was first presented at the St. James Theatre in London on November 17, 1943, the play opened on Broadway at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York City on June 27, 1944. There have also been a number of film and television adaptations of the novel.
