The Beach Boys are coming to the Jersey Shore as part of their 50th Anniversary Tour, which coincides with the release of their newest single, “That’s Why God Made the Radio.” The Beach Boys – whose return to Ocean Grove is by popular demand –continues to ride the crest of the California surf-sound and are an American favorite of fans worldwide.
Ever since lead-singer Mike Love penned the lyrics to The Beach Boys’ first hit, “Surfin’” (1961), dozens of the band’s chart toppers have become eternal anthems of American youth: “Surfin' Safari," “Surfin’ USA,” “Surfer Girl,” “Fun, Fun, Fun,” “I Get Around,” “California Girls,” “Help Me Rhonda,” “Barbara Ann,” “Good Vibrations,” “Wouldn’t It Be Nice?” “Rock and Roll Music” and their biggest hit “Kokomo,” which hit #1 when it was released in 1968. And for this rockin’ OGCMA concert, the band will surprise audiences with never-before-heard songs recently found in an audio vault from circa 1967.
In the course of their unique career, The Beach Boys have sold over 100 million records worldwide and received more than 33 RIAA Platinum and Gold record awards. And Sounds Of Summer: The Very Best Of The Beach Boys (Capitol/EMI's 30-track collection of the band's biggest hits) achieved triple-platinum success with sales of more than three million copies in the U.S. alone. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers where also honored at the 2001 Grammy Awards with a Lifetime Achievement Award. With more than five decades of touring under their belts, The Beach Boys have performed more concerts than any major rock band in history.
The Beach Boys are led by Mike Love along with Jeffrey Foskett, Brian Eichenburger, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill and Scott Totten, continue the legacy of this iconic American band.
