State Theatre New Jersey presents An Acoustic Evening with Lyle Lovett & John Hiatt

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents An Acoustic Evening with Lyle Lovett & John Hiatt on Friday March 1 at 8:00pm. This special event features two of America’s most admired singer-songwriters in an intimate acoustic evening. Tickets range from $39-$89.

Lyle Lovett’s hits include “Cowboy Man,” “Give Back My Heart,” “I Married Her Just Because She Looks Like You,” “She’s No Lady,” and “If I Had a Boat.” John Hiatt’s hits include “Memphis in the Meantime,” “Have a Little Faith in Me,” and “Thing Called Love.”

Lyle Lovett is a singer, composer, and actor. He has broadened the definition of American music through a career that spans 14 albums. As a Texas-based musician, he fuses his gift of storytelling with elements of country, swing, jazz, gospel, and blues in a convention-defying manner. Lovett’s live performances showcase his talents, as well as the diversity of his influences, making him one of the most compelling and captivating musicians in popular music. Since his self-titled debut in 1986, Lovett has won four Grammy Awards ®, was given the Americana Music Association’s inaugural Trailblazer Award, and was named Texas State Musician.

John Hiatt is a singer-songwriter with a career spanning four decades. Hiatt, resident musician in Nashville, is long celebrated as a skilled storyteller and keen observer of life’s twists and turns, which he utilizes in his music. Since his 1974 debut, Hangin’ Around the Observatory¸ rarely has more than a year or two passed without a new Hiatt collection hitting the shelves. His albums range in musical style, from blues to new wave, to country. His most recent collection, The Eclipse Sessions¸ released on October 12, 2018, with himself on acoustic and singing, Kenneth Blevins on a small drum kit, and Patrick O’Hearn on an electric bass or upright bass.

A member of the prestigious and highly selective Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, Hiatt has been nominated for nine Grammy Awards®. He has also penned songs that became hits for the likes of Three Dog Night (“Sure As I'm Sitting Here”), Bonnie Raitt (“Thing Called Love”), and Eric Clapton and B.B. King (“Riding with the King”).
