Roxey Ballet Announces Spring 2017 Events

(LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Roxey Ballet, New Jersey's preeminent contemporary dance company, has announced an exciting program for the Spring 2017 season, including a full program of community engagement events to be held in Roxey Ballet's Canal Studio Theatre. These In-Studio events include "Dance on Screen", "Beer and Ballet", "Tutus and Tiaras", and "Brown Bag Ballet."

"Roxey Ballet is all about Building Bridges in the community using dance", says Mark Roxey, director of Roxey Ballet. "This is why Community Engagement and Our In the Studio Series is so vitally important to us and the community. We are always looking for ways to engage our community expose them to the beauty that dance performance and human interaction can provide".



Roxey Ballet Announces Spring 2017 Events"Dance On Screen"
This season, Roxey Ballet will include its first-ever dance film night, "Dance on Screen", on February 11th from 7:00-9:00 PM. This program of local and international shorts will expand the meaning of dance and offer insight into dancing for the screen. Afterwards, there will be a panel to discuss the process of filmmaking for dancers, and offer insight into the future of dance. This events is open to adults ages 21 and over.

Roxey Ballet Announces Spring 2017 Events"Beer and Ballet"

"Beer and Ballet" is a 2-hour event open to adults ages 21 and over. Participants will watch professional dancers in a warm-up class and rehearsals while tasting local beer. "Beer and Ballet" offers a behind-the-scenes look at Roxey Ballet's Main Stage performances.


On March 24th, "Beer and Ballet" will allow audiences will get an inside look at the collaboration process as Mark Roxey creates brand new choreography for "Carmina Burana", a partnership with Princeton Pro Musica. On May 12th, "Beer and Ballet" will focus on "We vs. C: Stories of Breast Cancer Survivors", a collaboration that has connected Roxey Ballet with strong and special survivors of breast cancer.

 



Roxey Ballet Announces Spring 2017 Events"Tutus and Tiaras"

Beginning March 19, "Tutus and Tiaras" will be presented to young, aspiring ballerinas. They will listen to a famous ballet story, create their own tiara, play dance games, and watch a professional ballerina perform. A special "Tutus and Tiaras" on April 30th will feature Cinderella, allowing children to decorate their own glass slipper while listening to the classic fairy tale.

Roxey Ballet Announces Spring 2017 Events"Brown Bag and Ballet"

Seniors, retirement homes, community groups, and individuals are invited to bring a brown-bag lunch and spend the afternoon with Roxey Ballet for our "Brown Bag and Ballet" series. Take a behind the scenes look at the creative process that goes into Roxey Ballet's repertory works, engage in conversations with the dancers, and get a preview of upcoming productions.

In addition to In-The-Studio events, Roxey Ballet's Main Stage Events are scheduled to be performed in May and June. These performances include "Cinderella", to be held at The College of New Jersey on May 6th and 7th, "Carmina Burana", to be performed on May 21st with Princeton Pro Musica and Princeton Girlchoir in Princeton's Richardson Auditorium, and "We vs. C: Stories of Breast Cancer Survivors", a healing arts project involving nonprofits and artists throughout the region using dance, spoken word, and music to tell the stories of 15 strong women.
