(LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- Seventy-year-old "Chick" Chicarella (Grimaldi) has one prized possession, a 1967 Jaguar that is in desperate need of repair. When his son, "Bone", (Daftsios) suggests that they finish the car and sell it off, old family wounds and failures rise to the surface. That's the story behing The Jag by Gino DiIorio, which will have its World Premiere at New Jersey Repertory Company from January 12 - February 12. Unable to complete the task by themselves, they hire Carla (Bajou), who is an expert in Jaguars, but woefully lacking in social skills. Together, the three learn some hard lessons about repairing cars and smoothing out life's jagged edges. Directed by Brendan Burke (artistic director of Shadowlands Stages in Ellenville, NJ), "The Jag" stars Dan Grimaldi (best known for The Sopranos and last seen at NJ Rep in Lucky Me), Christopher Daftsios (Swimming at the Ritz and Substance of Bliss at NJ Rep) and newcomer to NJ Rep, Estelle Bajou (a Drama Desk Award nominated actor). Award-winning playwright, Gino DiIorio has an impressive body of work that includes several plays that were premiered at NJ Rep, Release Point, Apostasy, Winterizing the Summer House, and Dead Ringer. Performances to The Jag are Thursdays, Fridays at 8pm; Saturdays at 3pm & 8pm; Sundays at 2pm. A special lecture by the playwright and surprise guests will be held 7pm on Thursday, January 12 and will be followed by the first sneak preview of "The Jag". On Friday, January 13 a wine and desert Meet-And-Greet will follow the performance. Opening night with reception is on Saturday, January 14 at 8pm. Tickets are $46. Opening night with reception tickets are $50. Group and student rates are available to select performances. NJ Rep is located at 179 Broadway in Long Branch, NJ.
