“Our mission is to raise awareness and support for veterans and active-duty military who may be experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We do this by developing free, trauma-sensitive programs of yoga and meditation for military, veterans, and their spouses or partners” says CEO and Co-Founder Thom Shortt. “We are hoping that this event provides a platform to spread awareness and support for our veterans and active-duty military who are in need.”
Since 2012, the veterans who have attended the foundation’s free yoga and meditation classes include men and women with ages ranging from their 20s through their 70s. These veterans report that they are experiencing better sleep and concentration, the ability to find calm when presented with challenging situations, and generally an improved quality of life.
All proceeds from Vino and Vinyasa at Crossing Vineyards will go towards the Meghan Wilent (Shortt) Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. For tickets and further information about the foundation, please visit www.meghansfoundation.org/vino-vinyasa-2017/
