(BLOOMFIELD, NJ) -- Hillary-Marie’s Sole Music Collective is percussive dance at its finest, music for the soul created by the soles of the feet, and home to the #Herspective video web series that highlights women in music as they come together to collaborate and recreate their favorite music. They have released their fourth video in the series, a cover of Carmen's 'Habanera' featuring the percussive tap dancing of distinguished tap dance artist Hillary-Marie and internationally renowned bassist and cellist, Jennifer Vincent.
Hillary-Marie’s dancing has been described as “like feathers with steel bones” due to her combination of strength and grace and renowned dance critic Robert Johnson wrote, “Some performers travel with their own atmosphere, a rosy bubble that floats off the stage and envelops the crowd allowing grateful viewers to forget where they are. Tap dancer Hillary-Marie and her accomplices do that.” One of the most accomplished tap dance artists and producers in America, she is an award-winning, internationally acclaimed soloist and ensemble member, artistic director of Jersey Tap Fest, FutureSTEP Tap Company and Grooves Unlimited.
Jennifer Vincent has been an active force on the music scene for over two decades playing and recording with the likes of Abbey Lincoln, Betty Carter, Carmen Lundy and Jon Hendricks. She held the bass chair for nearly a decade and toured the world with the Duke Ellington Orchestra and is the bassist for the Jazz at Lincoln Center All-Stars under the musical direction of Wynton Marsalis.
These two female artists come together for a delicately fierce cover of 'Habanera' from Georges Bizet's famed opera Carmen as a part of the Sole Music Collective’s #Herspective video web series that seeks to uplift and celebrate women in music by providing a platform that celebrates equality, individuality, delicacy, ferocity and everything in between.
Don't miss the chance to see Hillary-Marie and other amazing tap dance artists in action as they celebrate Jersey Tap Fest's 8th annual main stage event of TAP 'N TIME held Saturday, August 12th at 7:30pm at Bloomfield College's Westminster Arts Center. Attracting tap enthusiasts throughout the northeast, the evening will feature live music, rhythmic dance and tap performances by Anthony Morigerato (SYTYCD), Ayodele Casel (Spoleto Festival), Justin Myles (STOMP), Mark Orsborn, Karen Callaway Williams (Riverdance) and more to be announced.
