(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The Asbury Park Music & Film Festival (APMFF) will close out its 2018 festival with a performance by Gov’t Mule on Sunday, April 29 at 8:30pm at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ. The band has showcased its virtuosity, intelligence and breadth over the course of 16 studio and live albums, millions of album/track sales and streams and thousands of performances.
Gov’t Mule – GRAMMY® Award-winning vocalist, songwriter, guitar legend Warren Haynes (vocals, guitar), Matt Abts (drums), Danny Louis (keyboards, guitar, and backing vocals), and Jorgen Carlsson (bass) – has galvanized a global fan base with their music and improvisational virtuosity, leading them to be recognized as one of the most timeless, revered and active bands in the world whose spot amongst rock titans remains unshakable. Their acclaimed 10th studio album Revolution Come… Revolution Go (Fantasy Records) was released in 2017. Spanning rock, blues, soul, jazz and country, the album won over fans and critics alike and, upon its release, shot up the rock charts, racked up over 1.5 million streams, and nabbed the band their highest-selling debut week ever. Their most diverse offering to date, Revolution Come…Revolution Go showcases the band's evocative songwriting, incendiary playing, cleverly-crafted songs and timely lyrical commentary.
“We look forward to having Gov’t Mule perform as the closing act of the 2018 APMFF,” said Peter Hurley, Executive Director. “They are a tremendous band and a great addition to the other wonderful artists we have performing throughout the weekend.”
Gov’t Mule joins an APMFF lineup that includes An Evening with Danny DeVito, an intimate evening at the Paramount Theatre featuring video vignettes and stories from DeVito’s illustrious career, integrated with discussion, a Q&A session and other special presentations, as well as a concert from Sublime with Rome, who will be performing at the legendary Convention Hall. Both of those events are on Saturday, April 28.
For the third consecutive year, the Bob Dylan archives at the University of Tulsa will present rare gems from the vault. Dylan Archives III will take place on Sunday, April 29, at the House of Independents in Asbury Park. Musical performances by the Tangiers Blues Band, who will serve as the opening act for Gov’t Mule, the Kitchen Dwellers and Dark City Strings have also been added.
Previously announced artists and content appearing at the APMFF include Built to Spill, North Mississippi Allstars, Low Cut Connie, Bobby Bandiera and Friends and Patrick Davis and His Midnight Choir, along with the films Long Strange Trip, which will be followed by an intimate panel discussion and Q&A with the film’s producers Eric Eisner and Justin Kreutzmann, and the world premiere of Break On Thru: A Celebration of Ray Manzarek and The Doors.
